USC used them with Reggi Bush, so there’s some experience.

Hint: Stop playing your best matchups at 2 am for most of the country.

When is espn/abc supposed to show them? They aren't going to put Washington-Arizona State at 330est or 700/8 est because there is a relatively small demand for those games opposite the top bigten matchup of the week or the #2 sec matchup of the week in the case of the evening slot.

The pac12 is in a bind- they don't want to put all their games on secondary and even tertiary broadcasts, but if they don't do that they are going to be shown in terrible time slots....so what to do?

I feel bad for them....the overall solution is to get more people to care about pac12 football. But thats not easy

ESPN also show MWC games in the late time slot. Big FOX has Pac12 games on in the prime time slot just about every other week.

yes...that's what is sort of alternating with the pac12....power of five type matchups. To espn Washington vs ASU is pretty damn similar to San Diego State vs Boise(are both those teams even in the mwc? who knows? who cares?)

> FOX has Pac12 games on in the prime time slot just about every other week.

yeah...sort of in competition with a #2 or #3 big12 game.

true, and this is why I think the pac12 commissioner gets more blame than even he should. He can't make California Bear(is that their mascot?) fans care about football? Or ASU, Arizona, etc....He can't create core/foundational programs in a conference when none exist.....blaming him for the pac12's woes is about like blaming the shot mechanics of a 4'11 basktball player who keeps getting his shot blocked.....

you know what would help make the pac12 successful from this standpoint? If they had programs like Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Michigan, tOSU,Penn State......programs that can anchor a conference in terms of fan support, resources, quality. They don't have that....even the programs that have been good at times on the field don't have the other components. Over the last 4 years or so Washington has gone what.....3943030302- 7 or so? Can anyone even remember a single washington game over that span?

substituted socialism. smog, queers and porn.

Someone may have to correct me, but my understanding of a 'bammer' is a uneducated person from Alabama who roots for bama despite having no unaffiliation with the school and embodies Alabama stereotypes(poor, white, uncultured, etc)...Hugh is a bama grad so by definition he cant be a bammer

Hugh is clear evidence that 'Uneducated' and 'Bama Grad' are not mutually exclusive. The term applies in this case.

Golden Bear (he even has a name - Oski (pronounced AW-skee)), but yes.

And it's hard to make anybody - especially recruits - care about it when, every time they play a "name" team out east, the game starts at 9 AM Pacific time.

However, it seems to work like this:
1. Pac-12 games get terrible time slots
2. Recruits are told this by eastern schools - "don't expect to be drafted high in the NFL if nobody can see you"
3. Recruits flock to the east
4. Eastern schools do better
5. Networks don't see a need to give Pac-12 games better time slots.
Rinse, lather, repeat.

None of this mattered when Palmer/Carroll/Bush/Leinart were swinging their dicks. It wasn’t that long ago—they were the proto-Bama. There was none of this talk of bad game times back then—USC was appointment television. They were even yanking kids out of SEC country. I thought the program had become self-sustaining (like Bama is)—ISTR Mia bandwagoned them.

I'm surprised that Not has joined the whiners - he used to stay away
from that sort of thing.

From my viewpoint the problem is simple - the PAC 12 currently doesn't
have the quality football teams to be shown in better time periods. I
remember when they did. USC was REALLY tuff with John R.

dude, They had a 2.5 year run like that(the first half of that first year they werent considered on that level and lost to freaking cal.Take out palmer they werent considered elite then, even his last year

Alabama has been dominating college football under saban for 11 years(since his second year when they were #1 much of the year)....12 next year. We are talking about a run of being 'appointment television' that is over 4 times as long. They have only played 2 regular season games in ELEVEN YEARS that didnt have national title implications.

not comparable

thats the thing- it wasnt a compliment. It any such comparison does a great disservice to saban and bama
