President George Bridges of Evergreen State College girds up his
loins, screws his courage to the sticking point and sets forth to
smite the evildoers.

“We are sending each individual student who <sic> we can identify
from video footage of the protest at Bret Weinstein’s classroom
a letter of notification and warning and the warning will be quite clear.
If they repeat this type of disruption in the future they
will be adjudicated under our conduct code,”

That's "whom" you ignorant twit. Call yourself a college president.

Actually the sentence would have been okay without either who or whom.

I never learned about the proper use of who and whom. Would you
recommend flogging?

Hugh, here is an easy trick. Replace with he or him. If he fits, it's who; him, it's whom. Should be the same with they or they.

Thank you very much. I'm not too old to learn yet.

I always avoided who and whom before.

To HIM it may concern,

He who read this is whom I hope will be kind enough to correct it.

I use it for a shibboleth and rarely judge.
President Bridges is supposed to know.

I suppose so, eventually. For most it will come up outside of
school. Learn the difference, then decide how to proceed. We have
some flexibility. No need to sound stilted. Still, I do not trust
those who call ignorance and any which way an evolving language.
Those who read the masters marvel and try to make some progress
toward them.

I would not expect a college prof to be more proficient in English
than I am unless that was his major. I doubt that you would either.

I expect the President of a college to know it all.
He must communicate in writing with students with
peers and with prospective donors.

Over the last 50 years I have reduced my expectations. I no longer
expect to be impressed with the credentials or ability of many people.
