“We’re really in a pussy generation.”

Can you see _High Plains Drifter_[1973]
getting made today? _Dirty Harry_[1971]?

Related, could you see "Blazing Saddles" done today? "Airplane"?

I tried to watch Blazing Saddles with my 14 year old son recently. It was awkward, and way less funny than what I remembered.

I share that sentiment. The part I liked was at the end where they break the fourth wall.

It is more like a string of sketches---many of them great.
Harvey Korman signing up paid agitators.
Madeline Kahn singing "I'm tired."
Mel Brooks as the governor.
"Authentic frontier gibberish."
Every scene with Slim Pickens.

Hedley Lamarr: My mind is a raging torrent,
flooded with rivulets of thought cascading
into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

Taggart: God darnit, Mr. Lamarr,
you use your tongue prettier than
a twenty dollar whore.

I saw it and Mel Brooks in person at a show Saturday night. Both are
still funny.

I bet it was because of the word n***** being used so liberally that you
were greatly embarrassed and ashamed. Don't take your son to any more
movies based in the 70's. He doesn't need to understand the 70's, no one
does.

They spit, drank, smoked, didn't shave, fought, had bad teeth, said nigger
a lot, surprisingly raped a lot of women in films if they weren't busy
slapping the hell out of them, drove big cars that polluted Earf, and were
just generally nasty looking and immensely greasy.

I knew that was part of it; it must have made you squirm. I'm not being
facetious when I say this, children of our time are too delicate to watch
shows/movies from that era.

Triggering these types of delicate people, virtually all people under 25,
can lead to extreme confusion for them which often leads to violence. Mel
Brooks is the human incarnation of a trigger button.

I know, man, no problem. I curse people sometimes too, here on RSFC, and
then regret it later. You are probably just all keyed up because you are
worried about Trump and the Constitution and how he is shredding it and
just doesn't care.

Clint Eastwood must hail from sorry white trash that immigrated to
California during the dust bowl or maybe he was part of the small Southern
migration that made it to cities like Sacramento and influenced the
culture.

No way he could be pure Californian because he is, after-all, a Republican.

And just think, ken - if obama had operated like trump, you "real americans" would have actually had a point instead of straight up hysteria.

Seriously trying to imagine y'alls reaction if Obama had reached out to the heads of the fbi, cia, and nsa to request they sort of just lay off all the hillary email stuff.

Cheers.

His remake of _The Producers_[2005] is fabulous.
Do not miss it. Uma Thurman, Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane.

Guess who plays Franz Liekind, the author. Go ahead, guess.

If Obie had operated like Trump, we would not have needed Trump.

About the only think that will make Obie look good is if he becomes a
martyr soon.

I'm not for that because I don't want him to ever look good.

I'm just wowing my way through current events. I wasn't hysterical I
considered the potential. If Obama had gained a solid Congressional
majority in 2010 rather than suffering the greatest defeat since the
Depression all kinds of hell would have been put upon us.
