The only way they make the playoffs is if they were undefeated heading into the SECCG and 2 champions of the other power conferences has 2-3 losses. If there are 2 undefeated conference champions then the SEC West team goes to a regular bowl game, not sure what one with all the new tie ins, maybe one of the throw away NYD early bowl games.

If they are undefeated going in, they still make the final four. If they had 1 loss going in and Georgia was the other team and Georgia had 2 losses or less going in, then Georgia goes to the final four and the secrets winner probably doesn't get to the final four.

Depending on what happens with other teams, it is not out of the realm of possibility that 2 sec west teams alone make the final four. That wouldn't be fair to the other sec west team however

There is no rule that says conference champion has to be selected....if 12-0 auburn loses to 10-2 georgia(and auburn had already beat Georgia in Athens in the regular season), then the committee can still pick auburn

Of course auburn isn't going to go 12-0...or even 11-1 or probably even 10-2...schedule is just too hard.

This concept of a 4 team playoff is rather silly. There is an 8 or so team playoff now....it just consists of 4 extra teams from the west and occurs over the next several weeks before the real playoff.

Also, in the east Georgia is really the only team capable of beating whoever becomes the best team in the west. And that's only if Georgia's qb starts playing a LOT better
