The Maryland Athletic director, Debbie Yow, has actually no Ph.D. yet
she stated she has a Ph.D. which I found out from an unaccredited
college. There is no mention of her dissertation in Dissertation
Abstracts.
Debbie Yow graduated in 1974 from Elon college with a B.A. in English.
She then completed graduate studies earning Master's from
UNC Chapel Hill and Kentucky, in '76 and '77, respectively.
In 1988 she received a Master's in accounting from Liberty college.
In 1996, she was also granted an honorary doctorate from Liberty in
Humanities.
Debbie Yow received a PhD from Louisiana Baptist University in
religious counseling in 1992. However, this institution is not
accredited to give Ph.D.

Congratulations. Most public institutions will allow someone to claim a
non-accredited PhD for non-academic postions if such a degree is higher
than the position's requirements.

I have someone in my office who insits on calling himself "Doctor"
despite the fact that both his masters and PhD were from non-accredited
institutions. Since the position requires a bachelors minimum, I don't
care.

(When he started claiming a PhD from "Columbia University" instead of
"Columbia Pacific University," that is when I cared.)

Jon

Since it was a non-teaching position
