Had a really strange dream last night. Since Daniel and Joseph of Old
Testament fame are long gone, I thought I'd call on the seers and prophets
(or should I say demons and wizards) of r.s.c.f. to provide me with the
proper interpretation since I am totally perplexed by it all.
I was riding in a car with 3 suspicous characters on my way to a college
football game. Two of these guys, I came to find out were the ones in the
car with Rodney King the nite LAPD had baton practice on their pal, the
driver was Al Cowlings. We passed a terrible car accident on the way with
ambulances, firetrucks, police cars, etc. all over the place. The guys in
the car were being real cordial, but I can remember I was real anxious to
get to the game. Anyway, the car pulls up to the stadium, they let me out,
and drive away.
The stadium is the one in my hometown (Florence, AL) where the U of N.
Alabama Lions play their home games and the Div.II National Champ. game is
held each December, approx seating capacity of 15,000. It was a mild
evening in early Sept. as I strolled outside the stadium looking for a
ticket. From the paraphernalia adorning the fans milling around outside I
soon ascertained that the combatants in the game I was looking to attend
were the SMU Mustangs and the Florida Gators. As I searched for a ticket
scalper a long black limo pulls up outside the stadium and a very drunk but
gorgeous, dark-haired SMU fan in a very short, tight skirt and black high
heels stumbles out and yells "F*** the gators!". I suddenly feel a strong
desire to do the gator-chomp with my arms to see if she was true to her
word but she disappeared quickly in the crowd.
I find a ticket vendor and ask him the going price. He said that a pair was
going for $5. I replied that I only needed one and handed him a fiver but
don't remember getting any change. As I entered the stadium, I noticed that
it was only half full with kickoff only 15 min. away, except for a block of
bleachers that they had pulled into the north endzone that was packed full
of Gator fans. The UF cheerleaders and mascot were in front of them working
them into a frenzy. All the cheerleaders wore white visors. Only scattered
groups of SMU fans were noticed. The rest of the crowd I assumed to be
locals just out to enjoy a game.
As I made my way to my seat I was accosted by a very large and ugly UF gal
(also very drunk) who claimed she "knew me from somewhere". As I tried to
be cordial to her and tell her that I'm sure she was mistaken since I had
attended U of Ala. my mind raced.... was she one that I may have spent some
'quality' time with after 2 six-paks during a spring break trip of long
ago? Maybe she had done some undergraduate wark in T-town and she was what
we used to call a slump-buster?....
The band began to play the national anthem... I woke up.
What be the meaning of these nocturnal visions?
Why UF and SMU in a rinky-dink stadium?
Why were the tickets so cheap?
Why wasn't the stadium full?
Are all SMU coeds typical of the one in my apparation?
What does Al Cowlings and Rodney King's friends have in common with UF or
How does the car wreck fit in?
Who was I going to root for?
Maybe it was the jalapenos on the beef and bean nachos I had last nite?
Maybe I've been watching too much CNN?
Maybe I spend too much time at work reading r.s.f.c.?
Maybe I'm tired of soccer and imitation pro baseball (not the kind Willie
and Mickey used to play) and my subconscious is venting its frustration on
it not being September?
Is there anything Nostradamian in all of this?
BTW, this was a actual dream, no BS.
Still searching for my sig. Ed T.
