Harsh. Reports were that he badly wanted to play, but the staff kept him

In the last 12 hours there have been more that 700 posts, most of
which have told us that Bama was a lousy team, Bama was lucky,
couldn't have done it with McCoy playing defense, Bama couldn't beat
any of the real teams like Boysy, make it MNC*. Very few posts seemed
to think that actually winning counted for anything - opinion is what
REALLY matters. Oh no! not the opinion of the pros, the opinion of the
fat arses in the lounge chairs. Doncha no nuthin'?
We even had 16 starters who didn't make All-American. The lack of
talent is truly shameful.
I would have thought all this hoop-de-do would have fed your furnace
more than winning.
And I almost forgot. It was Bama's fault that UT didn't have a
competent backup QB.
UT has a classy team and coaches but they got a bad break. In spite of
all the affirmation that Bama would not have stood a chance had McCoy
not been hurt, the winner is determined by the people on the field,
not the posters on rsfc.

I had not watched Alabama except for some of end of the Tennessee
game, but given the hype that the SEC receives, knowing that Saban is
a good coach, knowing that Alabama has a lot of resources, and knowing
that they beat Florida, which was a better win than anything that
Texas had on their resume, I was still surprised at this game.
Alabama had 2 1/2 quarters with basically nothing to worry about on
defense ... tee off on the QB and whomever he handed the ball to and
they were good to go. They could have played a 5-6 defense and
between the nerves of Gilbert, the drops by the receivers, the holding
onto the Texas receivers and the pressure Alabama could put on the QB,
there was little to worry. But even with that advantage, Alabama did
almost nothing on offense. It came down to a gift at the end of the
first half and the fumble when it was 24-21 and Texas had the ball.
Alabama lost the yardage total to a freshman thrown to one of the
supposed best defenses in the country, were only 2-12 on third downs,
had only 58 yards passing, and gave up 5 sacks.
Quite frankly, as I've read your posts this morning and replay the
game, Alabama won on the scoreboard, but they had a couple of bounces
go their way and it's arguable whether they were really the better
team or not.

I thought this could be the case at first, but in the post-game
interview, McCoy stated that it wasn't hurting -- he just couldn't
feel his arm, like when you wake up after you've slept on it.
I can't see any way of him being effective if he couldn't feel the
ball to grip it.

What you may not have noticed is that I have not gloated about the
win. What I have done is respond to the people I thought were whining
about the loss and dissing Bama. I'll bet most of them never got
closer to a football field than the end zone or an armchair. It's a
tough game - I have 4 broken ankles to attest to that.
Sure, losing McCoy changed the complexion of the game but who can
honestly say it changed the outcome?
And against the BEST rushing defense in the country Bama had not one,
but TWO, backs who rushed for more than 100 yards. That had nothing to
do with the injury to McCoy.
Bama rarely looks great. They seem to do only enough to win and they
make it look like luck. They can't be praised for that. I'm for
stompimg or getting stomped with fair play and good sportsmanship.

You real UT fans regret the loss of McCoy but you are congratulating
Bama. That is class.
You have to be a Bama fan when they lose to know REAL discomfort. I
still feel the loss to Flardy last year.
What I don't like is a bunch of weenies pulling for UT BECAUSE they
were playing Bama and whining because UT lost. That's unclass and and
I can be just as unclassy when I respond.
Hopefully you can discern the difference.
