Matt Barkley will not play vs Notre Dame. Injury too severe apparently. Some unknown redshirt freshman will.
In a year in which Notre Dame, game after game, has seemingly got every possible break and every possible bounce or call at the right time, it is rather fitting that this happens......

According to you Barkley is a bad QB, so any other QB could be an improvement. The red shirt freshman is more than likely 1st in line to be the starter next year. And USC gets a top 5 QB from almost every recruiting class so he was probably highly rated coming out of HS.

actually all I'm hoping is that Oregon wins vs Oregon State, clinches
a top 4 spot for an automatic BCS bowl.

regardless, barkley being out damages oregons chances to play in the bcs title game greatly

not at all. According to me Barkley isnt as good as someone who has been hyped up as a potential top 3 pick in the nfl draft. There is a big difference.
Its extremely unlikely that a redshirt freshman with no real game experience is going to be anywhere near as good as barkley.

I'd love to see two CoC teams in the BCS bowls and the nice chunk of
change that brings.

The x factor is, of course, that Layne Kiffen shoots his entire wad on
a game plan to save his job. Not saying it will work, but it's always
there.

Barkley will be the 1st QB taken i the draft and I would not bet against him being picked in the top 5. SC losing as many games as they have has not been all his fault. They have scored 28 or more points in 3 of their 4 losses. If their D played up to their hype they will be in the mix for the BCS game.

possibly, but that has everything to do with the nfl being such a qb driven league where teams are desparate for a good qb and him being the best choice in a very sorry lot coming out. Last year was a very strong class. This year is terrible.
As for barkley, he has a number of problems going forward in the nfl. He's short and unlike a short guy like drew brees(who plays taller than he is), Barkley actually plays shorter than he is. It seems like every usc game I watch balls are being batted down left and right. Barkley also has slow feet, which is much different than being slow. Peyton manning, for example, is obviously slow but his feet in the pocket are very fast. Barkleys feet in the pocket look like they are stuck in quicksand. His arm is average as well.
>SC losing as many games as they have has not been all his fault. They have scored 28 or more points in 3 of their 4 losses.
total points scored isnt a very good measure of offensive efficiency. In two of those 3 games, barkley made a ton of mistakes(the az game and then the ucla game). Hell in the ucla game he threw 2 horrible picks early and that led to them being down 24-0....tough to come back from that. In the az game he threw some picks that prevented them from pulling away and allowed arizona to crawl back in it.
Lets also not forget that barkley has(by far) the best wr in the country and on several occasions lee has turning ordinary crossing routes into long tds or just gone up and pulled jump balls out of the air with his amazing ball skills.

Let's see Ga Tech beats Ga, then Ga beats Ala. Fla St beat Fla. Ore. beat OSU. Oregon is in the BCS championship game regardless of what happens in the ND/USC/ If Barkley plays game and UC beats ND. Ore still needs a loss by Fla to get to the BCS game. So Ore needs 3 outcomes to go their way if ND beats SC and 1 additional game if SC wins.
i will probably have my money on SC, Fla St and Ore this week

well yes but the likelihood of georgia tech beating georgia and then georgia beating alabama isnt very good. That combination has probably a 5-10% chance of happening, and 10% may be generous.
>If Barkley plays game and UC beats ND. Ore still needs a loss by Fla to get to the BCS game.
which is likely. Florida state is a significant favorite in tallahassee. Georgia a two td favorite against georgia tech, and if georgia cant beat georgia tech they would be a double digit dog to bama.....you're comparing 1 event that is likely to happen(FSU beating florida at home) to needing two events to happen, both of which are unlikely to varying degrees.

My site hasnt put up a number on the usc or florida state games yet....I guess because there is still some uncertainty as to whether floridas starting qb will play and how healthy he is. That line at another place has opened at 7. I think I would play florida state at that number as well, but I dont know if I would play it at 7.5.
The best play of the week, imo, is clemson. I already played 10 units at clemson on the moneyline, and then 5 more units at clemson -4.
