52000? Dont you people take your football seriously? Come on Dan,52000.
Alabama's turnout was a ,little more .92,138 people watched the A-Day game
in T-Town.
Oh yeah we love our football down here.

america is just football crazy. it's at a new level of insanity.
and i'm not sure anyone, even the winners, enjoys it anymore. when the
only football team i live and die with, the st. louis rams, won the SB 7
years ago, i was so blissfully happy that i didn't even really care when
they lost a playoff game the next year. i was still celebrating the
championship from a year earlier. to an extent, i still am - about once
every two weeks i wear a SB champs t-shirt i bought back then and relive
the memory.
nowadays though, everything is seemingly continuously focused on the
NEXT game. my brother is a lifelong indy colts fan and yet the week
after he finally saw them win a super bowl, he wasn't savoring that. No,
when i talked to him he was already going on and on about what holes
they need to fill, who they might draft, what free agents they need to
sign and who they should cut, etc. He had already moved on to opening
day 2007.
it's the same with college football. it's become all-consuming-crazy, in
a forward-looking, too-busy-to-stop-and-enjoy-the-roses (or oranges,
etc.) way.

Whaaaa? I thought you lived and died with the Mi-T Golden Brahmins of
USF!
What else is there to do in Alabama? I'm serious, list 10 of them.
The Rockne House only hold something in the low 60s. It was practially
a sell-out. Keep in mind, the corporate schmooz seats are usually
unfilled for these kinds of games.

How many RSFCers want to sign up with me right now: Bama has a .500 season

The heavy in your lighthearted day
He's figured it out...answer the question with another question!
It's the RSFC way right?
The 10 things that I personally enjoy (I like history, so the 10 items
will be weighted towards that):
New England Air Museum
USS Nautilus and Submarine Force Museum and Library (THE archive for
all submarine-related research)
Mark Twain House
Mystic Seaport (considered one of the US's best maritime museums:
http://www.mysticseaport.org/)
US Coast Guard Academy and USCGC Eagle
Yale University
1. general campus
2. Peabody Museum of Natural History
3. Yale Museum of Art (http://artgallery.yale.edu/)
Mystic Aquarium and Dr. Robert Ballard's Institute for Exploration
(http://www.mysticaquarium.org/)
Old State House, Hartford
Wadsworth Museum of Art (http://www.wadsworthatheneum.org/)
Essex Steam Train and Riverboat (http://www.essexsteamtrain.com/)
actually suicide rates in Connecticut are quite low compared to other
states. In fact, New England states (with the notable exception of
Maine) along with New York and New Jersey have the lowest suicide
rates in the nation.
Ok, I'll bite: what do you consider interesting that's not on the
list?
You evaded the question. What's fun in your opinion? Hiking? Going
to the shore? Camping? Boating? Fishing? The Arts? Gambling?
Sports? What?

That must be why you're so homer-tastic in your college football
preferences.

yep.......several years ago the nfl became the "most important sport"
in america. Now the nfl is two times as big as everything else non-
football in the sporting world combined- mlb, college and pro
basketball, nhl, boxing, golf, the olympics, tennis, everything.
for example nba fans are trying to hype up a great golden state-dallas
"upset" series.....well the rating for one of the games I see listed
was a 1.4. That's embaressingly low, and this is supposedly a playoff
game in a series with some juice.
baseball is getting there too. baseball still has a lot of fans, but
too many of the fans are way too old. It's embaressing, but when
spiketv showed a mixed martial arts fighting competition it drew way
more men aged 18-34 than one of the world series(!) games last year
being shown at the same time on network tv. Baseball's fans are old,
the nfl's fans are much younger. I know very very very few people my
age who follow mlb. I don't know anyone my age(or any guys my age)
who don't follow the nfl.
One advantage the nfl will always have over college football(and
college football is doing very well now too) is that college football
is limited in the sense that most people didn't graduate from a large
university with a bigtime football program. Some people don't even
graduate from college period. So all these people feel a little "left
out" when talking about sec football or bigten football or
whatever.....but in terms of the nfl, it's there for everyone.

Mia, this explains your bandwagon nature. You feel "left out". Yet
you're quick to call attention to those poor bastards that never went
to college (bringing your self esteem back up a notch) as we all know
your penchant for touting educational superiority.
Those thinks are cool. but one of the funnest things about living in
conn is the ease to NYC (and home) by train.
