they do........why?

If texas was concerned about covering against a&m, they play
differently....

but who cares if they win by 10 or win by 35?

I wuz their. And obviously I'm no fan of burnt orange. But I
have to tell you that the refs took "ignoring holding" to an
extreme tonight I've never before seen. It really made both
offenses look better than they were. (And both defenses worse.)

I thought the refs stayed out of the game maybe a bit too much. I
thought there was a lot of helmet-helmet contact not called on the ags.
And if this had been an SEC game, Texas would have been flagged for
taunting the crowd after the KO return for a TD.

OTOH, the late hit out of bounds on Texas they did call seemed the
meekest of all possible calls like that. Dood was dumn for not slowing
down earlier, but he totally tries to not hit the guy as he went out of
bounds. He certainly didn't deliver a blow at all.

Big XII refs DO NOT call offensive holding. If you watch a Husker
game you will see Suh being held on nearly every single play. I'm not
going to complain about it though because they don't call it for
either team...it will hurt though when Big XII teams get into bowl
games and get called about 30 times for holding.

Big XII refs DO call holding on Defensive linemen....last week against
KSU Jared Crick a DT got called for holding...I've never seen it
before although I'm sure it's happened in the past. And how about
that call against A$M that nullified a 50 yard run because your
running back was 'leaning'. Sheesh...you can call that on about 50%
of all plays.

At game speed, it looked to me like the kid came in full
speed and leapt on top of the pile. I'm not saying the
call was correct but that it didn't look like any sort
of contact avoidance I've ever seen before.

I'm with both of you here - when I happened live, you'd instinctively
call in a penalty - however, when you saw it on slo mo esp on the
opposite side camera, you could see the kid try and pullback and not
succeed. Still a penalty either way - just a difference of emphasis
is all.

Yeah. He was stoopid to not back off sooner. there was time. But he
did try to minimize the impact. I can understand the call.

If that had been called on a Texas running back, I'd have been pissed.
