---not sure what "based off of" means....
but the rankings are the reult of the ballots cast by Members of the
National Ultimate Media Panel.
They submit their Top 20 in the Womens Div.....#1 gets 20 points, #2 gets 19
and so on until #20 gets 1 vote.
I tabulate the votes....and publish the results.

The Members have great credentials, which give the rankings plenty
of......credit.
so hopefully TDs, teams and others will use them well.

enjoy.

Watch out for University of Ottawa... they didn't make the flight out
to Canadian Nationals, but they certainly could've given UBC a good
game with their full squad.
If they make it down to sectionals and regionals this year (and snow
doesn't force them to forfeit the second weekend...) they could make
some noise.
Just figure if UBC's getting any love, Ottawa should too.

Why is Pitt rated 11th? Are they blowing up this year or what because
otherwise I can't see #11...

Well they finished the UPA rankings at #15 last season, and they did
well at Elite Eights as I recall (one of the most competitive fall
tournaments this year). So #11 does not seem unreasonable to me.

My question is where did the NE disappear to? Seems a little odd to
me that not a single team from the region made it into the running.
Anyone have any insights?

UBC made Semis at UPA Nats and then won Canadian University Nats.
Ottawa didn't go to UPA Regionals or Canandian Nats.

You've got to earn your love.

By UPA Top 25 rankings, Tufts was the highest NE placer, finishing at
39th.

Right, but Tufts tied for 11th at Nationals last year, above Florida,
Truman State and Emory (all three of which made it onto the NUMP
preseason poll).

I've never thought fall tournaments meant that much (getting rookies
experience, playing split squads, etc.), so I guess I'm just curious
why Tufts got shut out.

And in the category of SW bias, um, was there a new development with
UCSD such that they got to have their team back? Last I heard they
were suspended for the season, which would make them a weird vote for
the top 20.
