Now that I have graduated and have nothing else to do until regionals,
I guess I will take up the case of our (MagnUM's) Callahan Candidate.
Here are a few reasons to vote for timmy:

- He only weighs 100 pounds, he is the poster child for skinny kids
everywhere.

- Somehow he manages to have some of the best throws on our team
without any muscle mass on his arms.

- He plays the whole game, keeping our offense moving and guarding the
other teams version of him.

- He is a liscensed tattoo artist (he has tattooed many unknowing
teammates in their sleep at tourneys).

- He willingly bails his teammates out of jail (myself twice this
month).

- Last year he was the Great Lakes Regional Coordinator for both men's
and women's. This year he was elected to the UPA Board.

- He'll drink anything (double shot of uber-hot salsa, then had to sit
there for 5 minutes with nothing to eat or drink).

- Is banned from wearing tank tops in 32 countries (it upsets the
natives).

- Has built Michigan into a legitimate ultimate program after it
reached all-time lows the year before he arrived.

I am not writing all of this because i am one of Tim's good friends or
because he plays on my team. I am writing this because i have had to
guard him in practice for the last 4 years. Every practice we are
separated and as much as i try and cover other people, I always end up
switched on to him.

In the last four years I have been guarded by some of this years
Callahan candidates, and none of them quite rate to the workout i get
at practice every week.

So why does he spike the disc everytime he scores? Maybe he
should play goaltimate.
Good Luck at Regions,

Maybe because in Goaltimate that would be a turnover.

....well, unless that particular score clinches the the big prize for
your team in West Palm, in which case they'll show your spike on ESPN2
at least three times over and at least once in slo mo... gotta love
it...

No, they don't, not at all. I really meant it when I said "gotta love
it."

I have nothing against Tim, but one must recognize the flaw in
nominating anyone from the Magnum team. First of all, there is
their grandiose celebrations after every point they score, even
in games where they are already clearly humiliating the other
team by shear skill. Why ruin this dominating image with
flagrant celebrations, reminiscent of country line dancing
meeting a pro-football touchdown. Also along these same lines,
there is the insane concept of SPIKING the disc after every
point. This is clearly a trait that a Callahan canidate would
never want to display.

I will not apologize for anything my team does or has done. I don't
see how running on the field and congratulating your teammates is seen
as unspirited. It keeps us up, active, and in the game. We treat
every game as our toughest and we play our hardest. I don't see how
that makes us unspririted.

I don't know who you are, or what tourney you saw us play in, but i can
assure you there was no line dancing. Yes, sometimes Tim and I do
spike, but it is always celebrating the fact that we scored, not
showing up our opponents. Granted it is not a necessary thing, but we
are just trying to keep our team pumped up.

Finally, who are you? When did we play you? Anonymous posts are kinda
lame dont you think?

Yes, I fully agree. Everyone - PLEASE STOP CELEBRATING AFTER YOU
SCORE! It is poor spirit.

First of all, I never said the rushing the field was unspirited.
I said it was grandiose, becasue I was proud I knew such a big
word. Honestly, I encourage enthusiasm, but don't you feel that
rushing the field should be a sponteous reaction of excitement.
Instead of a preplanned team requirement. I said spiking the
disc was unspirited, which I stand by. The reason for it being
anonymous was because I thought the post would have my Purdue
email acount attached. It wasn't until now that I saw it had my
aol one, and I was just being lazy.
Most importantly, why is it that you can't remember what one team
you have spiked the disc on?
Here is my deal you guys go the entire tournament without spiking
a disc and I will support the Tim for Callahan project.

Jimmy Budnik--I'll be the idiot with the leopard print, cheetah
print, dalmation print... hair style.

I am not speaking for Purdue Ultimate. I am just rambling on
under my own free will

No, our team plays better when everyone is involved, one easy way to do
this is to say we are going to rush the field. we don't do because we
have to, we do it cause we want to. we are genuinely excited every
time we score.

I said spiking the

I agree with you that spiking on a person or at a person or near a
person is the wrong thing to do. however, i know i have never
personally spiked it on anybody other than my teammates in practice.
i think a little spike after someone scores is a harmless thing and is
in the same vein as any post-score celebration.

we have played almost 40 college teams this year, sometimes they blend
together. plus, tim and i have played almost 70 in our 4 years of
playing. to much malt liquor to remember all of those games.

I hereby promise that i won't spike on anyone at regionals (except
maybe walsh from notre dame :). i can almost guarantee that tim won't
be spiking on anyone either.

vote timmy
