Philly Invite in Allentown? What's next, the NY Elite Open in Passaic?
Or maybe the L.A. Invite in Rancho Cucamonga. How about a little truth
in labeling.

Would you rather we called it the Allentown Invite and have
every player outside of the tri-state area thinking, "Where
the heck is Allentown?"

Besides, the Philly Invite has been held in Allentown for at
least 5 years.

call it what you want. But Allentown ain't Philly.

Will change as soon as the schedule also features Waukegan
Heavyweights, Burlington City Classic and Devens Invite. Should
Chesapeake also be on this list? It does not take place in a bay...

The Philly Invite was originally held in Marlton NJ, so at
least now we're in the right state.

Motown Throwdown: formerly in Hartland, Michigan; now in
Sylvania, Ohio. What's in a name?

For real, PHILLY Invite. Beautiful fields in ALLENTOWN. July 21 and
22. We'll have this sanctioned and apply for showcase status to fit
the new USAU club series criteria. Get in touch for more information.

Bump

Did a little history of Philly Invite in my head yesterday,
per current TD's request. I believe this is officially the
8th annual, although we did have a Philly round robin
tournament in 2004 that spawned the idea.

If I recall correctly, KRU won that round robin in 2004.
Puppet Regime (NY) won the first two Philly Invites in 2005
& 2006. After that, AMP won 3 in a row, followed by District
5 in 2010 & Chad Larsen X in 2011. For those who care about
these sorts of things....incomplete history up on PADA web
site now.

Knappy,

If you ever want to dig a little deeper into Philly ultimate
there are ~ 25 issues of the Philadelphia Area Frisbee Club
newsletter in the MDSC holdings (v. 5 1981-v. 10 1986).

It's primarily a disc golf newsletter but there are bits of
ultimate information here and there... Tourney dates,
occasional columns or interviews,etc.

I seem to remember that there wasn't really a winner last
year. I believe that CLX and Overhaul both lost in the
semis, but CLX played in the finals so D5 and Slow wouldn't
play each other again?

True, though using Nationals Powerpool format looking at records among
top 4 teams CLX and Slow both ended 2-1, CLX with the head to head
edge. Overhaul and D5 were 1-2 and the former won the head to head for
"3rd."
