oh yeah, i forgot tim sharp was on the job, i know mike nash and co.
had been doing a great job before, hope it continues
tim sharp here.
got your messages.
is your team coming to southerns? are you going to be there? i would
love to meet you.
if you were really interested in the info for southerns, here it is:
all.
southerns is fast-approaching and we are slated for the best southerns
tournament ever. i want you all to know on our end we are doing
everything we can to improve this tournament every day, including
implementing several new ideas such as a new, improved trophy for the
champs, a friday night party with a live band (composed of actual
frisbee players) and great entertainment, and damn good food (in both
the snack goodies and for dinner saturday).
a couple items of importance for you all: southerns will be
sanctioned, it's going through all the paperwork at UPA headquarters
right now. no worries there, sorry it hasn't gotten done earlier. no
need to freak out or send me more email asking...
also, many of you have asked what teams are coming:

here's what i need from you all, and asap: i need a head count of the
TOTAL number on your team coming, and of that number, how many want a
vegetarian meal on saturday night (i'll do the subtraction...). this
is very important so i can order the food for saturday night to
appropriate measurements/payments. if you do not care to eat the food
we're providing, please let me know you're going elsewhere so we don't
order extra than what we need. i would hate to waste any food.
if you have not sent your check, we need your money to be able to
secure these things for the tournament. we have about 70 teams coming
and a little less than half the checks with two weeks to go. we have
to have your money ($300)!
send checks to:
ryan randall
po box 12588
statesboro, ga 30458
also:
COLLEGE SOUTHERNS 2010
When: March 20-21 Where: Statesboro, GA Cost: $300
A FEW THINGS: READ THIS WHOLE PAGE…
Checks. Make checks payable to Georgia Southern Ultimate and in the
amount of $300. Send it to Ryan Randall / P.O. Box 12588 /
Statesboro, GA 30460. Please send your monies ASAP! If it is kosher
with everyone, we’d prefer to do receipts at the tournament. Let me
know if that does not work for your team.
Cancellations. All cancellations need to be a week in advance. Any
cancellation made week of the tournament will incur a $50 fee.
Camping will be allowed! For all those teams who like to save money
on hotels/lodging, we’ve got tons of room for you to sprawl out. And
for all those camping there will be a two-hour or so window for you to
take showers inside our recreation facility, so no worries there.
Pets are allowed at our fields. There are pet-poo trashcans located
around the complex, so be sure to clean up after whatever animal you
bring, but feel free to otherwise bring your little friend. Please be
sure to keep them on a leash as to avoid interruptions to Frisbee
games and/or spontaneous dog-to-dog interactions.
SAVAGE Ultimate will be making the tournament jerseys this year and
will be poised to show off his new sublimated items, which will be
available for sale. Tournament discs will also be for purchase, so
bring your cash flow.
Food will be provided for breakfast/snacks both days and for dinner
Saturday night. Over the course of my years playing I’ve been to many
tournament and hope I have grasped well enough the greatest snacking
food for players. There will most likely not be a food bag/team, but
a food area near tournament headquarters where anyone and everyone can
come grab their grub – complete with real silverware for spreading,
even.
Dinner will be catered, as every year, by Christopher’s. This is very
important and will relay to me if you’ve even read this sheet: there
will be a vegetarian plate available (and a quite tasty one at that).
I need an e.mail from every team telling me how a total of players
coming to Southerns, and of that total, how many vegetarian plates are
wanted.
Alcohol. There will be a zero tolerance policy regarding alcohol on
university grounds. The first instance is it seen your team will be
disqualified from the tournament, no refund will be given, and it’s
possible that legal sanctions will be incurred. I have been informed
that in any point in time there will be security guards wandering the
area (thus, the legal sanctions) making sure this rule is being
strictly followed. Let me clarify that in no way does Georgia
Southern ultimate have a problem with people drinking and having a fun
time. However, we have had enormous problems with this in past
tournaments and our team suffers the consequences for other teams’
misbehavior. We want everybody to eat, drink, and be merry…just not
on university grounds (ie: fields, parking lots). There will be a
party off-campus that will provide that opportunity.
Formatting. We are hoping to have 32 men’s/32 women’s teams, as we
hope every year. Thus, formatting would be pool play and a cross-over
Saturday, then bracket play Sunday. We want everyone to get to play
as many games as possible, so as to my knowledge (and barring any
unforeseen circumstances) every team should be able to play out seed
as much as they desire on Sunday.
Directions to the fields can be seen/printed here:

all.
we have been trying to put together something for friday night for you
guys.....and we have! there will be a captain's meeting/fun night at
tent city, which is on campus right at the fields. it will all start
around 7ish friday evening. this will be the general site of
tournament HQ for the weekend, also.
we would love to have all the teams come and hang out with each
other. there will be some lights on at the fields, a farthest pull
contest, hopefully (fingers crossed on a radar gun) a fastest flick
contest, hopefully some old frisbee hippies free-stylin', pizza, and
non-alcoholic drinks (remember, you're on campus and any alcohol on
school property will send you home for the weekend, no warnings once
you get here). we know the beer rule sucks, but the bars are close
and numerous if you so desire.
if you're planning on attending this on friday night, let me know so i
can order pizzas for you. if you don't tell me your team is coming, i
won't have pizzas waiting for you.
so let me know.

also: i play club with mike nash on el daiblo. thanks for your
concern and consideration in college southerns and its continuing
success amidst many other tournaments out there in the frisbee world.
hope you enjoyed the information that i've sent out to the teams and
that you consider us next year, or if you're already coming this year
and just a disgruntled attendee, i pray this suffices.
also: thanks for the help cheese.
cheers,
tim
...and we have already met..........
and you are coming to southerns, so now you're on the "in"
hope we can live up to your standards
Women's pools are not up, when should we expect those to be up?
