The accepted teams to MLC have been announced. Due to an overwhelming
response in the open division, we've expanded from 31 to 40 teams.
That still left 10 teams on the waiting list. Accepted teams are in
score reporter here http://upa.org/scores/tourn.cgi?div=18&id=4060
More details on the tournament to come, it looks to be a great
field.

Yeah, overlooked them. They have stepped it up in the last couple
years.

Drop Michigan, still not sure on TxSt/Okla.

I'd say Texas St. is a definite power pool team this year. Should be
one of a few teams competing for Nationals in the South Region.

Texas State will be very good this year I think. They could be the top seed
in the South.

Sounds like some poor guy has some decisions on his hands. Let's do
an 11 team power pool and 17 team winners bracket. That's my favorite
format.

-MH

PS- No one has guessed my initial power pools spot on. I'll tell you
when you do.

Ding, ding ding. We have a winner. Still a couple weeks in the fall
for things to change though. The actual seedings will be announced
the week before the tournament.

So will the power pools definitely be ten teams, or is there still the
possibility of a 15 team power division? I simply don't see how you
can discount Kansas B. They are an powerhouse of ineligibility.

I agree. They've consistently made dramatic improvements in the last
three years, or however long they've been around. They're all young
enough that I'm not even sure that they graduated anyone last season.
I hope they bring all their guys to Norman this weekend.

1. Wisconsin
2. Colorado
3. MICHIGAN (You should definitely not even question this one)
4. Carleton
5. Ohio State
6. Kansas
7. Illinois
8. Minnesota
9. Whitewater
10. Michigan State!

Trust me on this, this will probably be the final result anyway...

That explains Indiana not being on your list, but it doesn't explain
the two Michigan schools on it.

MH, you know I love you to death, but you aren't really planning on
having two hour rounds and a fifth round that starts at 6 at night,
right? You have heard of the sun and the moon and the rotation of the
earth right? You know, how there is a daytime and a nighttime?

No, I just haven't edited the times. Sorry for not having round times
announced 4 weeks in advance, I'll do better next year, I swear.

All im going to say is it is a bad idea to base any sort of power pool
selections on the performance of a team a year prior (ie RRI). People
graduate, teams get some nice transfers or build in the off season.
Although I really cant offer any real way to select teams until we see
some non-split squad results out of these teams before MLC. Doubtful
too. As for the Michigan teams on my list...just a hunch I guess

Does Wisconsin really deserve to be in the top 10? Have they proven
anything this year.

I think we both know im talking about the fringe teams that no one
really knows that much about. Helpful post though.

Does Bravo really deserve to be in the top 3? Have then proven
anything this year or last year? Tripoli Tripoli Tripoli....

ps. Will Neff is at Michigan... so they will probably be a lot better
Whitewater has a little more club experience so they might actually be
decent this year...
Carleton sucks and should probably be moved down a division... they
made cuts in the fall this year... what were they thinking? I'm
thinking they will lose to a wisconsin split squad this weekend in EC,
and then just call if their regular pre-season sandbagging.
Especially Jerome - somebody should take his street sign

why do wisconsin guys insist on talking about how good their school is
at ultimate, we all know you are good... but you're still an
incomplete team... you can win games but you sure as hell can't win a
party. Infact I don't think i've ever seen a hodag at a party, maybe
a pimpdag but what's the point of being on a B team if you can't drink
your face off.

speaking of which... Mike, does the party have a power pool because if
so I have your rankings right here.

1. Indiana (they lost alot of people apparently but you can't argue
with two party wins in a row)
2. Arkansas (Arkansas losing a party is not an option... it just
doesn't happen)
3. Oklahoma (oh man I love these kids, they make the South Region so
much more fun.)
4. Who the fuck cares Arkansas and Oklahoma will be there!!!

Ape Dance (Oklahoma) V. Galvanize (Arkansas) oh it's happening.

Throw Illinois in the mix, they were in line for the '06 party win
until a player puked in the bar for the automatic disqualification.
Also, anyone who says the hodags don't party didn't see Jack Marsh at
Mars. Ask him about Italian dressing.
Missouri vs Michigan boat races last year proved controvercial and
unconclusive, perhaps an answer this year.
