Heard a brief bit on ESPN Radio this morning..who are the
ultimate players you love to hate. Players you would love to
play with, but hate to play against.

Example I heard on the radio was Kevin Garnett.

Hate because his team will likely beat you or because of the
attitude ?

---hate because you don't like them or hate because you are jealous of
them?
hate because they are way better than you or hate because you think
they're not as good but they're on a great team?
hate because they're nerdy or because they are super cool?
hate because they are big and play small or because they are small and
play big?
hate because they wear a goofy hat or because they wear a silly pair
of shorts?
hate because they layout or because they don't lay out?
hate because they are quiet or because they are loud?

man.....you gotta be more specific

I have only played a year of high level ultimate so I
haven't played with and against people but a couple of my
club teammates I would imagine I would hate to play against.

Foremost would be Tyler Conger (Tanasi, formerly Axis of
C'Ville and UVA I think). I love playing with him cause he
has awesome breaks and is fun to handle with. He's a big
focal point for the other team which opens up a lot of
options to his teammates. He's very vocal so a lot of the
stuff you can get distracted with, he's already taking care
of and all you have to worry about is making good plays.

I haven't played against him but he can be infuriating to
the other team. Mostly stems from things like travel calls
(not that they aren't travels, I think in 4 or 5 games over
the season with observers, everyone of his travel calls was
upheld but he definitely looks for them). He seems to get
grin more and more the chippy-ier a game gets but tt's not
like a Pitt/Oakland where they thrive off the other team
being pissed at them and are pushing hard for that intensity
all game. It's more that he enjoys just getting under
someone's skin. He'll be grinning about that break throw he
just threw around the kid who's ticked at him about a foul
call 20 minutes ago or something. And seeing that grin can
be infuriating when you know you really aren't capable of
stopping it.

Wow- obviously I am really putting off doing my final
projects, I put way too much thought into that.

I think I speak for everyone that knows what frisbees are
when I say Ben Feldman from Wisconsin.

This is the second "let's talk shit about people" thread
I've seen up in less than a week. The first one got
(thankfully) very few responses, and this one doesn't
exactly seem to be taking off either. Seriously, do we have
nothing better to do than tear down other people in the
sport? Especially during Callahan season, when the
community is showcasing what is best about this sport,
threads like this really bum me out.

Big Ji, i dont think this thread is the same. This is about
players you love to hate. The OP said these are players you
love playing with but hate playing against. Presumably
because they are good and frustrate the competition.

But the whole impetus to this thread was Kevin Garnett, who
was recently called "the dirtiest player in the league." If
that's how the conversation begins, with an MVP-caliber
player to whom accusations like that stick, I don't see the
rest of the conversation being very fruitful.

and then Garnett went out and shut that guy's team up.

Garnett is my favorite player right now, and I would hate to
play against him so a great example for this thread. This
thread isn't about shitting on people, I agree with
california_encounter, it incorporates those guys that are
very good and frustrating to play against.

I bet big Donovan would suck to play against if the game got
chippy, Oh and that Strazer guy from Asheville, or however
you spell his name.

Mark Strasser? Is that an ironic suggestion?

Having been on the NC ultimate scene for quite some time, i
would bet confidently that it's not.

Right, Isnt this a thread about players you would like
playing with, but hate playing against?
Hes definitely one of them. and i wasnt talking about you
DAN aka Donovd, I was talking about Donovan Thomas.

whoops, no idea who Donovan Thomas is. Which I might get
berated for since google tells me that Lou Burruss wrote a
blog that mentions him.
