---the title says....that you're a moron?

now.....which national anthems are they playing?
germany? japan? brazil?

are they playing the United States National Anthem?
from what i've heard and seen, playing the national anthem before
sporting events in America is pretty common.
am i wrong about that?
as if i ever am......

curiously....what was the purpose of that awesome post about all those
killer hall of fame premier cool as hell athletes that you offered up
a while ago?

I find it out of place and a waste of time in pro sports,
but I guess it pleases the patriotic wackos. But in the MLU,
it looks plain stupid in front of a crowd of 40 people.

I believe the singing of the national anthem at sporting
events originated during WWII, as a marketing gimmick.
During shortages and national belt-tightening for the war,
the baseball owners didn't want to cancel the season.
Sticking in the national anthem helped cast the game in a
"patriotic" light.

Some patriots might think the national anthem should only be
performed during solemn occasions (it is a war song, after
all), and that it is a bit insulting to have a stadium full
of beery sports fans bellow out the anthem before a fuckin'
game, for pete's sake. What a bunch of corny bullshit.

A sporting event is not a solemn, patriotic occasion.

about for a couple years now?

Hey dude, you're right. I owe you some research on my
claim. I've talked with the captain of my old team (we
played as "mkf" and wore red jerseys) about the tournament
in Wilmington, NC. The tournament had to have been in the
early 00s. I've got good news and bad news.

The good news: Nobody on my team clearly remembers your
team forfeiting. Sunday was cold, windy and rainy. Nobody
is clear on whether our team left early, some other teams
did, or whether the tournament was called because of
conditions. I'm not ready to say I'm wrong, but I'll
concede that the lack of corroborating eyewitnesses means my
claim that your team forfeited a game wouldn't stand up in a
court of law.

The bad news is that the old teammates I talked to clearly
remember your team blatantly cheating against us during our
Saturday game. We clearly remember your team as having a
cocky air like y'all were almost too good to be playing us.
Then we started beating y'all, or at least keeping the score
uncomfortably close. Instead of playing better or accepting
defeat at the hands of a team y'all clearly disdained, many
players on your team simply cheated to win. I was
intentionally fouled at least once.

It was no phony tournament. It was a real game, and I know
it was your team because there was plenty of bitching about
"Gerics," who I assume is you. I don't know if you
personally cheated, because I don't know who you are. I
don't even know why I devoted time to this, other than a
compulsion to make sure the record is set straight: We
don't remember your team as quitters. We remember your team
as cheaters.

Hope that helps.

Binky,

What I remember from Geric and the Warriors in the early
'00s was Gerics being one of the best observers at the time
(doing a great job in college finals in Austin), and he and
his team winning the Spirit Award at Club Natties.

Yes, he ran a victory lap around the finals field waving the
Warrior Standard. Yes, he could come off as pushy. But
Gerics was a good dude.

What I also remember about that time was that the legend of
Gerics and his UPA suspension years prior had outgrown the
man himself, and people were quick to expect the worst from
him, and interpreted his every action with that lens. That
line of thinking then was already dated, and a decade later
is even more so now.

---HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA !!!!!!!!!!

so...from your lies about my team forfeiting.....to your team leaving
early and some weak faint possibly wrong memory of what your team
perceived or pretended to be cheating by someone....possibly in
wilmington on a cold rainy weekend......and someone or some people on
possibly my team were cocky.

lord......you should have just done NO research and kept your mouth
shut about what you found out.
how embarrassing for you and yours.......

all that research....and maybe you remember a cheater.
LAME
you're LAME!

Hey, just following the facts where they lead me. The
original post was on leaving tournaments early, but G's team
definitely fouled intentionally when they thought they were
going to lose to a team they shouldn't have. I stand by
that 100 percent, and I'm not sure why I should be
embarrassed about playing on a kickass team that made a
so-called legend's team panic and cheat out of desperation.
Not saying that it was a terrible sin then or now, but just
something to keep in mind when he's on RSD acting like the
oracle of ultimate. And don't be afraid to do your own
research, G.

'intentional fouled'.....RIGHT?!
oh lord....going to ultimate hell because some made up player from
some made up team who lied about my team forfeiting remembers some
rainy windy weekend somewhere where a team MIGHT have intentionally
fouled.......

i stand by it....100%....that you're LAME!
i stand by it.....100%.....that your team knows my name......and that
maybe....someone in a rainy windy town might have once committed an
intentional foul.

the ultimate sky is falling

ohhhh noooooooo

bye lame-o.....and again....keep your lame dumb sad memories to
yourself when they're are clear as a muddied lake.

there's no 'acting' about it.

YOU can do your research about that....and find it to be true.

wait. . .

fouling intentionally is cheating?

where does it say that?

no, seriously, is fouling intentionally cheating?

what kind of fouls are these? were you tackled as you beat
your defender deep? that could be cheating.

did they stick their legs out and trip you? that could be
cheating.

what sort of fouls were these that were "cheating?"

Euhngroups...

2 things.

As a US veteran I'm not all that uptight about the national
anthems at pro ultimate games....but generally agree with
you on the point of this thread.

Also, do me a favor and don't pick me in the summer league
draft tonight.
