Open players in the NJ area:
A new team will be forming this coming club season in the central/
north NJ area. Based out of New Brunswick, NJ, Gunswick Open will be
a non-college affiliated team dedicated to:
1) Having some plain old fucking fun playing Open in a location
accessible to both the central and north Jersey ultimate community,
without having to commute 1-2 hours away to play in Philly or NYC
2) Celebrating Jersey ultimate, lovin' it, and helping foster its
growth, especially at the college level. We would like this team at
its upper level to be for post-college players just outside the elite
level and/or potentially capable of making an elite team but without
quite the time commitment or money, and at its mid-lower level to be
stronger college and the occasional high school player, including
those hoping to use the team as a stepping stone to eventually play
elite......
3) Assembling a bad-ass, high energy team capable of placing 3rd
in our Section behind Oakland and Southpaw, but not banking our season
on it or feeling any let down if we come up short
While not decided whether tryouts will be invite or open, we hope to
get this team off the ground started in early May, with details and
captains to be decided by the team's core. Helping us in coaching the
team during tryouts & the initial stages of the team's formation will
be Walt Kalicki, respected MCUDL old-timer and former Pike founding
member. More info, including a google doc for potentially interested
players, will be posted/sent out within the next several weeks. If
you know of any rising college players or high level post-college
players, please spread word. Thanks.
