Midwest Throwdown (March 6-7, 2010)
Location: Creve Coeur Park (St. Louis, MO)
Bid Fee: $350
Number of Teams: Up to 12 Division I, 20 Division II, and 8 Roundup

As we announced previously, we will be hosting a special Roundup
Division (8 teams) that is part-tournament, part-skills clinic. We
have invited some of the top women's club players from around North
America to
guest coach teams for the weekend. We currently have
commitment from five coaches representing San Francisco Fury, Seattle
Riot, Boston Brute Squad, Bay Area Zeitgeist, and Texas Showdown. The
Roundup Division teams will be young and/or
developing programs in
the area who would benefit greatly from a
weekend of intense teaching
and mentoring. Teams will play 4-6 games
over the course of the
weekend, but will also have scheduled bye
rounds during which their
guest coaches will be able to go over drills and
skills with them,
review strategy, and generally give them tools that
they can take
back with them to practice.
If you are interested in the Roundup Division Skills Clinic, you must
fill out a two-page application and submit it to us by November 30,
2009. All applicants will be notified of their status by December 31,
2009. Applications will be reviewed by a Selections Committee that
may include the tournament organizers, Washington University Tilt
leadership, and guest coaches / mentors. The application can be

It is our hope that this
project is something that will be replicated
across the country, and we appreciate all of the interest and support
that we have received.
Divisions I and II will operate as a “normal” tournament.
Bids to Division I- please email us your 2009 Series finish,
significant additions and losses, and any other pertinent information.
(You will be notified of your status no later than December 31, 2009—
spots will fill fast, so get your bids in early.)
Bids to Division II- bids will be accepted on a rolling basis. (You
will be notified of your acceptance to Division II upon receipt of
your email.)
In your bid, please include a phone and email contact for your team.
Proceeds from this tournament will benefit the Washington University
Women's Ultimate program.

applications to December 15. If you are interested in the Roundup

Come Spring I'll be due for more guerilla-marketing & outreach
promoting the Midwest Disc Sports Collection.
Putting together a "history of women in disc sports" display for your
Midwest Throwdown tourney site would be very doable (gratis of
course).
A simple display w/ 50 - 100 images... posted on bamboo
Plus I could burn a dvd of "women specific" historic footage &
commercials ...for any Sat. night gathering you guys might have.

Roundup Division Skills Clinic. We will be reading through the
applications in the coming weeks and making tough decisions about
which teams to accept.
We are still accepting bids for Division I and Division II of the
tournament. We also have interest in a small club women's division,
so if your team is interested in attending, please email us. We are
finalizing details to host a small open division as well, so stay
tuned for more information.
