Even though I think the latest of Frank's shameless self-promotions
would be better suited for rec.food.restaurants my fiance and I gave
Crazy Frank's Pizza a try. We had a little problem finding it as the
sign was not lit but it shares a parking lot with the "El Pollo Loco"
so that should keep you from having to make a U-turn at Pastoria like
we did.

The cuisine, as advertised, was a cross between Indian food and pizza,
served in a manner resembling dim sum. The pizza was placed on carts
and wheeled around the restaurant with each of us having a chance to
select which slices we wanted to try. Surprisingly, they (the staff)
were pulling the whole thing off like they had been in the
all-you-can-eat Indian Pizza Dim Sum business for years.

The food was good, not write-home great, but well worth the $7.00. I
think between the two of us, we sampled eight or nine different styles
of pizza with the only similarities between each being the cheese and
the crust. There were at least four different types of sauces ranging
from a light pesto to a spicy curry. The toppings seemed to be 100%
vegetables and fruits which I actually did not pick up on until we were
done eating. Do not come thinking that there will be a few
"traditional" pizzas to pacify people that are not excited about trying
the house fare, as far as I could tell there were no pepperoni and
sausage combos waiting to come out. The crust left a little to be
desired as it seemed to be a standard white crust with a cornmeal glaze
on the bottom. I have a feeling they were going for something that
would allow the flavors of the sauces to stand out but that could have
been accomplished just as well with something that was a little more
unique.

Finally, what trip to Crazy Frank's pizza would be complete without the
proprietor himself coming out to talk to us? My fiance had never met
Frank so watching her react to his style of communication was amusing.
Even though it was Frank, I always appreciate owners / managers coming
by the table to check in on my dining experience. Frank confirmed that
there was no set formula for the pizzas claiming that each one was
different and that he refused to have a traditional menu. Kind of a
cool approach as long as they continue with the all-you-can-eat
small-slice formula.

The restaurant itself was clean, well lit and did not attempt to
establish any identity through decorations or wall hangings. The front
end staff was very nice and extremely attentive offering us more food
and drink several times throughout the evening.

All in all it was good food, an interesting experience and we left with
full stomachs. We plan to go back.

I saw a guy throwing pizza dough in the air. His foot moved while
spinning the dough. I called travel, turn-over, and asked him make me
another pizza.

I made it over to the restaurant as well. Pleasantly surprised by the
absence of Tex Winters shrines or DiscHoops cross-promotions. Previous
post is mostly spot-on: crust unexciting and with too much cornmeal, no
dead animals, otherwise decent. Unless strip-mall vegetarianism is the
next culinary fad, that location is going to be death.
