I've got an internship over the summer and will be in Oregon. I'm
driving all the way from Michigan so I don't really know anyone or
anything about the area really. I'll be about 40 miles east of
Portland near Welches.

I go to Western Michigan University currently and have been playing
ultimate for about 2 years now. I'm a handler. And I'm looking to
possibly find a womens team over the summer to attend tournaments with
if possible or even pick up in the area. From my understanding
ultimate seems more intense in the north west but I'm eager to learn
more and get better!

I'd go insane without ultimate over the summer!

Your best resource is the Portland website: http://portlandultimate.org/

Where you're going to be (on Mt. Hood) I don't think there's any
pickup, so the greater Portland area would be your best bet. The
womens team in Portland is Schwa, I don't know if there will be a 2nd
practicing team in the area or not. Plenty of Mixed teams in the area
though.

Is Schwa the only women's team in the Portland area that you know of?

Schwa was pretty much the only organized women's team, but
it sounds like they aren't even going to be a team this
year. I don't know if there will be any official women's
teams this year. The majority of Portland is mixed teams, so
you'd definitely have better chances with that.

you can also join the listserve for portland ultimate at
google groups at pdxultimatefrisbee. They have pretty
updated information about where the pick-up games are on a
weekly basis and they send out emails about tournaments
looking for pick-ups or teams as well. There's a women's
league starting soon and some other summer leagues if you'd
like to try and play that way too, instead of club, but
mixed will probably be your best bet.
