i'm willing to bet the house they dont. I'm betting that they ALL
live in the suburbs amongst mostly white people. Also i'm willing to
bet that, like H, they associate mostly with white people and shun
their ethnic roots (thus are considered "tokens".......not that theres
anything wrong with that). So what would they really know about
achieving racial diversity anyways. kinda why i feel their whole trip
is somewhat insincere.
Now i do feel bridging the racial gap is a noble cause and it IS the
case that sports have probably done more for acheiving racial
intergration more than anything else. but c'mon, the civil rights
movement is just as dead as the hippy movement. so why dont you do
yourselves a favor and let them both rip. Or take a tip from from
your boy obama and spend your weekends in the inner city helping your
own kind rather that hangin with a bunch of white people on some polo
field in the suburbs miles from the closest project.
Most white people, including myself, live with a considerable guilt
complex due to the recent history of the pain and suffering our
european ancestors have brought on ALL people of color. Like that
junkie crow in "fritZ the cat" said, "whitey done blinded us with
religion"......and booze too of course. But, heres the thing, WE ALL
KNOW THIS. Its also quite evident that the sport has been customized
for a more affluant class of people that are financially able to
attend college and still have plenty of extra cash to blow travelimg
to all the weekend events you go to.
So while lack of racial diversity in ultimate is as obvious as the
nose on your face ya got to do more than just scratch the surface to
get to the heart of why its not racially diverse and be REAL ABOUT
IT!!!! its a socio-economic dynamic that is at the heart of the
problem. Then there is the dynamic that most people of color are
gonna shun the ultimate scene due to its subtle but obvious exclusion
of people of color(as well as lower income people......which are often
one in the same).
So the best thin DTB could do to achieve there goal (that i'm
completely supportive of as i would LOVE to see superior black
athletes playing ulti) is to get ultimate into the urban/inner citty
school systems. But do yourselves a favor and shelf the whole spirity
emphisis. them brothas and sistas aint all about some old white boy,
hippy ideals any more that sunis or sheites would likely embrace
democracy.
And i will close by saying that if some people are offended by my use
of the terms "token" or "uncle tom"......i dont see how its any
different from a latino using the term "whitey"..........nor do i
really care if you are offended.

I will say this though. i'd have a lot more respect for them if they
