What happened to Notre Dame? Bad year for the papacy, but an
extra weekend takes the sting out of that long road to the
backdoor game to go.

Don't take that mismanagement stuff too seriously. Gravy is
one of the best coordinators there is; he's got this
planned out from top to bottom.

Wednesday, there were predictions for rain, but it was
scattered showers. There is a significant downside to
cancelling early. Illinois, for instance, has finals next
weekend, as I'm sure a few other schools do, teams get
really upset about Regionals during finals. By the time its
Friday, and you suspect the fields will be inundated, it is
too late to cancel. Most teams are already in route, and
there still is a possibility of playing.
The UPA is getting really strict about destroying fields, so
once a couple games were played and the fields became
damaged, there really isn't a choice.
Getting 16 or 32 teams together for an ultimate tournament
that leads to nationals is extremely difficult. The TD made
a hard call, but the people running these things have
thought this out months in advance. Don't get mad at
responsible, selfless people (who in this case are also sick
players) who are stuck in a position to make a hard call
that is going to piss people off whatever you do.
But seriously, from how I understand it the owner/operators
of the fields told the RC on Friday and again on Saturday at
7am that the fields could be used and then changed their
minds at 10am Saturday. If the RC had postponed the tourney
prematurely he probably would have been charged for the use
of the fields twice. Blame lies with owner/operators, not
with the RC.
Chicago. Do it for the kids.
