As Paula's teammate and friend, I can honestly say there is
not a more deserving candidate of this year's Callahan
Award. Michigan's program would not have undergone the
substantial grown that it has in the past few nears nor
would Flywheel be the team we are today without Paula's
leadership, exceptional talent, and willingness to help her
teammates improve to their fullest potential.

I case no one noticed, Paula's "for callahan" video is much

Definitely another step in Callahan videos. The first 40
seconds are awesome.
If there's ever a director's cut, maybe reduce it to 60
seconds? Tighten the first 40 seconds to 30 seconds and then
have 30 seconds of various credited voice-overs while
showing amazing Paula highlights? I think that would sing.

Awesome work with the video, and Paula is a great candidate. If I had

Thank you for all of the comments! Many people helped out
with the filming, music, and other ideas that went into this
video, so I'm glad it is well-received! Unfortunately, there
won't be a directors cut, but we are in the process of a
blooper reel (sorry, won't be posted on RSD).
The time and effort Tots and I put into the video editing
process is a testament to how strongly we feel about Paula
as a contender to win the Callahan. She's a fantastic
leader and role model, and I echo everything said about her
in the video. If you haven't watched it yet, you should.

amount over the last two seasons, and for what ever my
opinion is worth (not much) I think Paula should win the
Callahan. Paula is one of the more composed players I've
seen play ultimate. She just doesn't ever get rattled, or if
she does she sure does a good job of hiding it. Paula is the
kind of handler you would want to build your team around,
she can throw breaks and deep throws, but is dependable and
conservative enough that her turnovers remain low. When I
watched flywheel during their run to the finals last year,
it seemed to me that Paula was the most valuable player on
the field for Michigan.
If you've got a vote and a free second and a vote, you
should check out the video so you can see some people who
are far more qualified then me to explain why.

field, I've never had a more consistently dominent teammate.
Off the field, I can safely say Michigan's successes of the
past two seasons are a direct result of her leadership.
Now for the hyperbole. Think about the last time she got
skied. Yeah, I can't remember it either. And her mark - I
always thought handblocks were something that just happened
sometimes if you were lucky until I watched her get them on
a daily basis. When you're cutting for Paula you never have
to worry about actually getting open on the force side,
because the breakmark throw is always, always there.
As an incredibly skilled thrower who never seems to have
trouble getting open, there are two things that set Paula a
level above her opponents. The first is in her ability to
read her teammates. She knows exactly where to put the disc
to help her cutters succeed. Hucks are caught in stride,
breaks are easily read, and the reset is available right
when it needs to be, giving her an incredibly high
percentage of touches, completions, and Flywheel victories.
The second is poise. Regardless of the score or the stall
count, Paula's deliberate presence with the disc has never
wavered, from the her first tryout scrimmage rookie year to
the finals of nationals when she threw her 48th assist of
the tournament.
Paula for Callahan. Any team, any tournament, any game, I'd
rather be cutting for her.

I've only known Paula for one season, but I can honestly say
that she has become someone I look up to and admire deeply.
Even from day 1, I saw how much leadership she carried both
on and off the field, and it was clear how much everyone
respected her and followed her example. Her consistency and
level-headed mindset has made her an extremely trustworthy
and reliable teammate!
I'm going to miss her sweet skills on the field and in life,
and I cannot think of a more worthy recipient of the
Callahan!

Admit it, Paula's a boss.
She isn't a flashy player, but she's consistent like no
other. You can count on her for well placed hucks and
unstoppable high release breaks. On defense, as the deep
deep she'll sky 'em, the mark she'll get a hand block, and
in the cup she'll intercept it. But beyond her play, she's
a great leader and a main reason for our success. I know

I was watching at Stanford and got a chance to watch many of
the major nominees. It was apparent that her game was on
another level from the rest of the ladies on the field. In
several points, she manufactured the offense down the field
when it seemed the rest of the cutters were struggling.
Truly, she was the difference-maker that turns a good team
into a great one.
Also, that highlight vid was the best this season.
