Here: http://scores.upa.org/scores/#college-open/tournament/6882

And it looks to me like there are no more night cross-over games (one
of my favorite parts of the experience). Anyone have any info why
not? Money issue? Soccer complex issue?

When was the last time Wisconsin didn't win this tournament? I can't
even remember.

Don't they have like 8 in a row or something like that?

Why is Texas a three seed in pool C? Is this because of CCC's results?

I think wisconsin and texas both want 1st round byes, so they asked to
be moved to the 3rd seeds in their pools.

Score reporter shows North Park over Wisconsin (12-11).
Lost Boys usually have a video camera on the sideline
right?
Hope they got some footage of that game.

I don't believe that North Park brought a camera this year... But
from what I heard from my former team-mates, the game against
Wisconsin was won by getting an early 2 breaks and riding them through
the rest of the game. I believe one of those breaks was a callahan,
but I've not gotten the full details. Obviously this is the biggest
win our program has had, and the Lost Boys will now have a bit larger
target on their backs.

The Pools got changed around a little b/c some teams could not travel
in the snow. Here is the new pool B

Minnesota
Texas
Iowa State
Arkansas 3-1
Wash U

My boys from Arkansas went 3-1 including a 13-9 victory over Texas.
Their loss was to Minn.

Pools were changed this morning, as my team (Truman St.) foudn out
were put in a power pool 15 minutes before our game against illinois.
I checked the pools at 1 last night and they hadn't changed. Curious
as to why the change this moring. Pool C was from my understanding:

Notre Dame (4-0 before playing Illinois)
Tennessee (3-1)
Illinois (2-1 before playing Notre Dame)
Winona St. (1-3)
Truman St. (0-4)

But this is a bit of speculation and what I'd heard from other people.

Also... Mark Cuban is saying the party scene for the All-Star game in
Dallas would:
"make the Super Bowl look like a bar mitzvah."
"I mean, literally, it'll be the largest party weekend in the history
of this country. I don't think there's going to be any question about
it."

Has anyone told Mark about Mardi Gras or St. Patrick's Day or New
Year's? Anyone else find this a baffling statement?

So since North Park was the only team to be the Hodags does
that mean that they are actually the best team at this
tournament? Good thing they aren't in the same region, that
would be a seeding nightmare!!

i think since north park lost to indiana, it could be argued they are
the worst team at the tournament. which means since wisconsin lost to
north park, they are even worse than the worst team at the tournament.
and to top it off, the team worse than the worst team at the
tournament, won the tournament.

3-1 is pretty impressive... especially when "your boys" get a "win"
because pools were changed around during the middle of the night, so
"my boys" at Iowa State had their first round bye turn into your first
round game. A very impressive victory when no one is there. I also
hear that your boys coach vehemently did not want to play the game
during a late round that the TD suggested, understandably because he
didn't want to lose and not because he was a dick. It's weird to me
how much the Arkansas team dynamic changed post-Doege from the team
everyone loved to party with (and guard your women's team from) to the
current state.

At least you guys showed up on Sunday right? Good work

You were not there, so it's understandable that your account
is inaccurate.

Iowa State should have showed have showed for the first
round. Were the captains at Iowa State not aware of teams
routinely dropping and the schedule being reworked up to the
last minute? Texas was at the fields despite believing they
had a first round bye. They made sure this was the case.

Is Iowa State Ultimate <mailto:isucul...@gmail.com> the
address for Iowa State Ultimate? If so, then they received
the email from the main TD John Malone on Thursday before
the tournament that teams would be dropping due to weather
concerns. If teams drop then the schedule changes.

Arkansas told the College Men's TD Pingy that they would be
assessing points once the round started. The TD then told
them that if Iowa State was not at the fields by 8:45am,
then they would be "given the game."

Was Iowa State the only team that elected to miss their
first game Saturday?

yo bro and 'S'andy,

Was I there? No.
Do I still play? No.
Do I gripe for my former team and try relive vicariously through them?
Yes, as an aging alumni, not only is it my right, but it's my duty.
Was Arkansas a team that everyone enjoyed playing off and on the
field? Yes, at least when Doege roamed the fields.
Has this changed? It seems like it.
Did I create the situation were a team was given a bye at 1 am the
night before the tourney started but then changed? No.
Is the situation unfortunate? Sure is. State should have showed up.
Did Arkansas have every right to refuse to play the game? Of course, I
even said that the coach did not want to risk a win in an environment
that every game now counts towards strengthening your section/region
and thus getting you a higher chance at one more nationals bid.
Did I poke fun at Arkansas' results on Sunday? YES
Do you understand that RSD is an internet forum that flaming routinely
happens? Maybe now....

still signing my name,

I know that if we were given the opportunity to assess points from a
team on Saturday morning we would have done the same thing Arkansas
did. With the condition of the fields all weekend any way to play
less gave you a massive advantage later in the day. As for Iowa State
complaining that they were unaware of the scheduling change, buy a
fucking iphone and check before you go to bed. If you were not awake
partying past 1 AM you didnt experience the Mardi Gras tournament as
it is intended...not to mention the countless emails from the TD's
starting the tuesday before warning of last minute schedule changes
which were guaranteed to happen. I was just impressed by the TD's
abilities to have a tournament at all considering the weather we
got...props to them.

" buy a fucking iphone and check before you go to bed."

The pools were unchanged at 1:30 AM Saturday morning. I checked it
when we got back to the hotel from Bourbon. Things were then changed
when Truman got to the fields Saturday morning. I place no fault on
Iowa State- if Truman had had a first round bye at 1:30 AM the night
before the tourney, we wouldn't have shown up for the first round.

Did Speed have a right to waive the game and take the win? Yeah.
Should they have? Eh, that's a judgment call. I certainly understand
the decision.

Why does the TD not come under any fire for making (literally) last
minute changes? If I'm remembering correctly they stated that pools
would be final Friday around noon. I checked at 3, 5, and 1:30 the
night before, so I would take those pools to be final. Can't fault
ISUC for sleeping in on a first round bye.

If it's true that they had a first-round bye as of 1:30am then I don't
think that game should count on either team's record. Sure you can
count it as a loss for the sake of keeping the tournament running but
don't report it unless both teams agree.

In the past I've left home early on Saturday morning because I knew I
had a first round bye. There's no way I would have been able to make
it to a first round game unless I was informed of it at least 6 hours
in advance. And e-mail isn't sufficient for last minute changes. The
TD needs to talk to a captain or coach.

"As for Iowa State complaining that they were unaware of the

scheduling change, buy a fucking iphone and check before you go to
bed."
Some people don't have that kind of money. It's as useful as telling
them to "invent a fucking time machine and go back in time and play".

Arkansas is an awesome team to play against and an even better team to
party with. Just an unfortunate situation. I didn't like the change
in 1:30am putting us (Truman State) in a power pool because we just
were not ready as a team, but it happened and we dealt with it. It
didn't stop us from having fun, because what would be the point of
driving so far if it wasn't. It's over with, let's look forward.

Woah, woah, woah, slow down with your claims to greatness. I

If a game is scheduled and you don't show up for it then you lose.
Have some respect for the sport and treat it seriously. You don't
show up after the round and ask for it not to count in the name of
spirit.

I'm sure Arkansas would have loved to stay in bed rather than getting
to the fields at 7:30 to warm up for the 8:30 game time. If ISUC had
been there they probably would have beaten Arkansas. My ex-team loves
to let me down. They always seem to do well and the second I get even
an ounce of pride they shatter it with sloppy play (see Sunday results
or any AR tournament).

Was there a captains meeting? Did the TD tell ISUC they
didn't have to attend? Did they ask?

Even when my team has a first round bye, we either
communicate with the TD before hand that we will be arriving
at the fields late, or we send someone to the captains
meeting before the team wakes up.

As far as people getting upset about ISUC asking to either
play the game later, or have it not count- give them a
break, it never hurts to ask, worst that could happen was
Arkansas says "no".

I have no problem with ISUC asking but once Arkansas says no the game
should be recorded. I have a huge problem with the complaining about
Arkansas taking the W and counting it on score reporter.

FYI, eons ago when I was captaining Arkansas this exact situation
happened to us. I checked the schedule before I went to bed. We had
a 1st round bye. The next morning I showed up before the 1st round
while my team slept in the hotel. The schedule was changed that
morning so we no longer had a bye so I called my team and talked with
the other captain and td. We started 10 minutes late which everyone
was okay with.
