Women's College Centex:: March 27-28, 2010

We are proud to announce the seventh annual women's division of
College Centex, hosted by The University of Texas Women's Ultimate
program and the Ultimate Players League of Austin (UPLA). This
tournament has historically been the premier spring college tournament
and we look forward to continuing that tradition. Last year, we
hosted 32 of the best teams in North America at our tournament, and we
expect a similar, if not higher, level of competition this season. To

We are once again hosting 32 teams in order to accommodate the growing
number of elite women's programs. The majority of the bids have been
allocated based on historical program strength and/or recent Regional
and National finishes. There have also been several bids awarded to
promote the growth of women's ultimate, both in the South Region and
among up-and-coming teams across the nation. Coaches and captains in
every region have been consulted in the bid allocation process. We
have done our research and are confident that we will be bringing you
the best possible competition.
Like last year, there will be a Division I and Division II. Teams in
Division II will have the opportunity to play into the championship
bracket. We have invited eight of the nation's top teams to Division
I outright, and the other 24 invitations are considered to be "open"
invitations. The eight remaining spots in Division I will be
determined mid-March, with the remainder of teams to receive spots in
Division II. Both divisions will be extremely competitive and we will
be reviewing all spring results in order to determine which division
to place teams in.
As usual, Centex will feature the following amenities:
* The best competition in college women's ultimate
* Field food
* Trainers
* Discs / Gear
* Trained observers
* Dinner vendor(s) at fields
* Showcase game
* Lots of other exciting extras
We will be updating the list of committed teams on our website daily

When all of the spots have been filled, we will make an official
announcement with a list of all of the teams that will be in
attendance. We anticipate that this process will be complete by early

Saturday nights, as well as putting together a strategy session /
skills clinic for captains and coaches. Based on input we received at
a meeting we had with approximately 20 captains and coaches at Midwest
Warmup this fall, one of the most important things we can be doing to
push the college women's division forward is facilitating the exchange
of strategy, information, and ideas between teams. As part of this,
we will be supporting the Roundup Division Skills Clinic at Midwest
Throwdown, as well as helping to implement Saturday afternoon skills
clinics at both Midwest Throwdown and Philly Classic. Fore more

Because Women's College Centex is later in the season and caters to
the nation's elite teams, we are planning to have a strategy session /
skills clinic for captains and coaches to help teams reach the next
level with their practice planning and game-time strategy. We are
collaborating with some of the top players and coaches in ultimate to
bring this special clinic to you, and we hope that this series of
skills clinics at Midwest Throwdown, Philly Classic, and Women's
College Centex helps to bring college women's ultimate to the next
level.

did you contact certain teams regarding the tournament or can a team
submit a bid to you?
