Neha!
Happened just yesterday. In our local 8-8-8-8 game (yes, 8 overs a
side, 8 players a team) -- before you laugh, what else can you play in
75 minutes immediately after work on a weekday before it gets dark --
we won posting a pretty decent 73 in 8 overs. The opposition managed
just 65, but one of their players top scored with 51, another took 3
wickets, and God knows they must have had the highest catcher, because
we dropped everything that came our way, including the half-centurion
about 5 times....
But despite that, we won. Oh, you meant international ODO's ... sure
its happened quite often.
Bharat
8-8. Just a matter of time before cricket fans the world over start
yearning for those....
I suspect that the addition of the "most catches" criterion in
addition to the other requirements may see this list being pretty
short.
Here is a list of Limited-overs International matches in which the
highest run scorer, the highest wicket taker and the player with most
catches were from the losing sides. The matches in which there were
joint highest scorers etc. are excluded. Catches mean catches, not
dismissals (stumpings and run outs are excluded). The sides batting
first are listed first. The performances (batting, bowling and
catches, in that order) of the players from the losing sides are
listed in the second lines.

GO COLTS!!!

Hmm... the same person being the highest runscorer, wickettaker, and
catcher in an ODI. Clearly unique to also lose the game, but wonder
if this is relatively common in a winning cause?
Bharat
To add insult to injury, Ravi was not even MOM! The award went to
Qadir, 39 off 46 balls and 2-42 off 8 ovs, both being dharama wickets.
This wont make the winning list either but Tendulkar has atleast 1
entry for a 50, 3w and 2ct - the 12/5/90 Pune odo against SL.
Couple of incongruous entries in Aslam's list:

Tendulkar took only two wickets in that match.
Here is a list of players who have scored a 50, taken three wickets and two
catches in an odo. Note that a caught and bowled dismissal counts as both
wicket and catch:
Runs Wickets Catches
66 3 3 JH Kallis SAf v WI Centurion 1998/99
54 3 3 GRJ Matthews Aus v NZ Auckland 1985/86
67 3 2 Aamir Sohail Pak v SL Centurion 1994/95
107* 3 2 PA De Silva SL v Aus Lahore 1995/96
70 3 2 GW Flower Zim v Ind Jodhpur 2000/01
56* 3 2 AJ Hall SAf v Ind Cape Town 2006/07
71 3 2 RM Haq Sco v Ken Nairobi 2006/07
79 3 2 ST Jayasuriya SL v NZ Christchurch 1996/97
92 3 2 L Klusener SAf v Aus Boemfontein 1996/97
67 4 2 DS Lehmann Aus v Zim Harare 2004
57* 3 2 SM Pollock SAf v Pak Durban 2002/03
52 3 2 Shakib Al Hasan Ban v Zim Dhaka 2008/09
50 3 2 RJ Shastri Ind v Pak Indore 1986/87
88 3 2 Shoaib Malik Pak v Zim Faisalabad 2007/08
68 3 2 SB Styris NZ v Ind Cuttack 2003/04
Note 1: the only instance of a century, three wickets and two catches was
achieved in a World Cup Final.
Note 2: Shastri was the only player to finish on the losing team.
Note 3: Matthews achieved the unique quadruple feat of scoring 50 runs,
taking three wickets, three catches and having a toilet seat thrown at him
by a member of the crowd whilst fielding.
Andrew
Sad for him. To re-use a famous RSC term, did the other members of
the Indian cricket team "run away"?

Now that's interesting. Who was this "spectator" who threw a toilet
seat
at Greg Mathews? And what was Mathews' reaction?

What makes you think it was a spectator? A team-mate is a far more logical
suspect.

I'm sorry I don't recall the fan's name - we're not all related here, just
most of us.
It was all water off a duck's back to Matthews, who had the designated role
of player the fans love to hate. He did however fail to endear himself that
day by claiming a catch of Richard Hadlee despite have stepped on the
boundary line.

That is a phenomenal, if tragic performance! What's more, he was
the captain of the Indian team as well.

This entry does not belong to this list. WI won.
Vijay
The big mistake India made was to get Rizwan-uz-Zaman too quickly.
You are spot on. The guy pretty much gifted it to the opposition in
his previous 2 odos, 14(52) and a scintillating 4(62).

Even though I have heard of the legendary 4 (62) innings many times before,
I still find it difficult to believe. The dream opening partnership: Rizwan
and Shoaib Mohammad - imagine them starting up in a T20 international.
By the look of things the majority of Pakistan's opening partnership was
scored by W. Ides.
Andrew
The balls faced by the other batsmen add up to 231 (out of 270). So
the figure of 62 must be an exaggeration

The only time they had a substantial stand together in Tests, Rizwan
won the contest handsomely. Madras, 1986-87. They added 53 for the
second wicket, Shoaib scored around 42 of the runs.

There's obviously something rather wrong with the balls faced - the WI
innings adds up to 307 balls! However if these mistakes were evenly
distributed it would still only lop about four balls off Rizwan-uz-Zaman's
innings.
<snip>
Andrew
Shoaib atleast was consistent throughout this series against WI : 3
(34), 7(36), 11(35) and 3(32).
Heh, I saw at least 4 of the 5 days of that test at the MAC in
Chepauk, including the last day.
