The two WC wins (The Prudential One-day WC in 1983 & the T20 WC in
2007)
came against a backdrop of ZERO-EXPECTATIONS . Somehow the
team seems to thrive when there are no expectations. Just see
the performance of the team in the 2003 and 2007 tour to Australia.
No expectation = win and win.
Now it is the true test of mettle, whether the No.1 test team can
hold its nerves and the stifling deep ocean pressure of expectation of
winning at home. Only time will tell.

As the No 1 ranked Test team, the expectations of India will be high,
and rightfully so. In 1983, India was not a good ODI team - at least
from the results till that point in time.
Btw, why the CAPITALS for the topic?

Did high expectations from Aussies deprive them of WC wins 3 times
from 1999-2007?
This Indian team is different from the one in the past. It is a highly
professional and tightly
integrated team like the Aussies of '99-'07. Mishaps can happen but
no one is doing
anything wrong in expecting highly from a team that is Test #1 right
now and is winning
most of its ODIs at home.
