Slightly OT: Visit to Australia

Given all the vitriol that is spewed around here between Indians and
Australian, a small personal anecdote to the contrary:
I just got back from a 2 week visit to Australia - one week in
Melbourne on business with a side of vacation, and the rest a holiday
in Cairns and Sydney. I am of Indian origin and two uncles of mine
have emigrated to Australia. I have traveled an absolute ton due to my
work. Let me just say it would be harder to find a country that is
more easy going and friendly, yet efficient, clean, and safe. The
people are just a pleasure and I was welcome, and had a wonderful
time. The highlight to me was a beer-soaked night of Karaoke at Manly
Beach, by the end of which the host had morphed my name from Vikas to
"Kick-Ass," owing almost certainly to the mutilation I had delivered
to the music...
The sports culture was all around - everywhere you went there were
cricket/soccer/rugby pitches, people jogging, working out at the
beach, etc. This being May, rugby was on the tele 24/7, and bits of
English county cricket as well. Little kids could be seen on the beach
lobbing and kicking the "football" with their dads. It is easy to see
why the country does so well at sport.
All in all, an absolutely wonderful visit to a warm and friendly
country. To those bashing it without cause and to those whose only
exposure to the Aussies is through the word fights here on RSC, have a
visit and see for yourself.

They were all the poms that are living there now.
All the aussies were indoors slagging off Indians on the internet...
