No argument. They make Yallop, Wood, Darling et al look like Oz circa 2000.

The ghoul in me wants to see Dill & SPIT batting together.

Has there been a worse bowling line up from Australia? I can;t
remember the bowling line up in the mid-80s? Could not have been worse
than this.

I think that was pre-back injuries Bruce Reid so he's a better bowler
than anybody Australia currently has (although his career breakdown is
interesting and his record in India is right up there with the worst)
but Dave Gilbert and Greg Matthews are up there with the worst bowlers
Australia has played for more than, say, 5 tests and Ray Bright was
pretty damned poor.

Overall Bright probably was and Matthews was worse than Lyon (although
in India Matthews was reasonably effective)

It's in contention.
Some of the post-rebel tour teams in the mid-80s could challenge it
(especially after they disposed of Kepler) and the 1912 team in
England was pretty poor

There's also the tendency to look at past teams and look back at them
without knowing what the batsmen were actually like at the time they
were playing
(e.g. Macartney was a great bat after WWI, before it he'd played 20
tests and averaged 26.63 with 1 100 after it he played 14 tests and
averaged 69.55 with 6 100s. a team with Steve Waugh playing in it in
87 was not getting the same batsman as they did in the 90s)

For as long as I can remember (years), you have been posting asking for
the dropping of two of your best batsmen, Ponting and Hussey. Was it so
that you can post this thread?

Ponting should have retired a few years ago

Hussey went through a bad stretch but he did come good ... still I
would have dropped him back then

AND this would have giving other players a change to settle in
