in a losing Limited-overs International match. The scores at which
they came in to bat and were dismissed are in the second lines
followed by the ball of the innings with which they were dismissed.
The sides batting first are listed SECOND.

Does anyone have more info on the Zimbabwean innings on Houghton's
Day? I have some vague recollection about them fumbling around at 15-2
off 9 overs or something early in the innings.

PS: Wisden says he was out in the 47th over and Brandes out the next
ball. Butchart raised 18 for the last wicket with Traicos(4).

I remember the dismissal very clearly.Martin Crowe ran a lot from
midwicket to deep square leg,ball behind him,running and taking a
catch a la Kapil Dev 1983.
There was a series going on in Doordarshan Bush Classic Catches
Contest.And as part of Contest #1 ,Martin Crowes catch was adjudged
the best.I wish I could get a video of it somewhere.!

Yep I remember most of them...just not able to recollect Arnott's and
Wright's catches though.
In fact Crowe's catch was better than Kapil's, he dived fully
stretched and all....in school those days it was like an good catch
taken we would go "Martin Crowe record broken"

Was this really the first Bush Great Catches Contest. I think there
was one done before the Reliance Cup...during one of the Sharjah Cups.
But man those were the days...only DD..life was simple!

I think Sumant is right about Crowe picking it at deep sq leg.

It was the 1st contest, the 2nd contest coming in the Ind-WI series
with Richardson winning it for nabbing a couple at slips in the bombay
test.

I wont mind not seeing the Crowe video if only I can get to view
Harper running out Gooch in one fell swoop in the MCC 87 game :)

I could agree to everything except the "only DD .. life was simple".
The heart-aches of stupid commercials eating into the first ball of an
over or when an important wicket fell, silly commentators, boring
drawn tests, sub-standard watching experience (and then to finally
realize that most of these games could have been fixed by Azhar/Malik/
Prabhakar/Whoever) .. i'm left with a bad DD after-taste.

Crowe ran from mid-on to long on, diving headlong into the catch
as it fell over his shoulder. Still the most memorable catch I have
had the privilege to see.

Azhar, as you said, caught (& bowled) McDermott off a fierce
straight drive just in front of his face in the Delhi encounter, after
India had lost to Aus by a whisker in the tournament opener in
Madras.

AFAIR, Arnott's was taken square of the wicket (Point, if I have
to hazard a guess) diving sideways. Arnott was one hell of a fielder
in a Zim side that was up there with the best in that department.

And the next few ones would typically be won by an Azhar catch at
point or square leg...the coverage was so bad that you couldn't even
see the catch, just that he dived...lol...fun days!

Man! I haven't seen that one but from the write ups on that run out I
can imagine what an act of brilliance it must've been (even after
accounting for the pomposity and exaggeration of writers). It seems
Gooch was left with jaw open and then just laughed at his own
dismissal, and the whole crowd gave Harp a standing ovation.
