middle order batsman and a terrific fielder. I was fortunate to be
coached by him when I was in high school. A very good coach too).

11) ? Rajender Goel ( The great left arm spinner from Haryana who simply
didn't get a chance ).

Other players that readily come to my mind are Sarkar Talwar from Haryana,
Padmakar Shilvakar from Bombay, Syed Saba Karim from Bihar and Randhir
Singh from Bihar.

Here I am trying to assemble the best Indian test team composed
entirely of non-Test cricketers. By that I mean, Indian players who
have NEVER figured in the playing 11 for EVEN ONE SINGLE TEST
that India played.

Since I am from Karnataka, I am more familiar with the players
of the Karnataka team over the years. I would include 3 players
from Karnataka (in the approximate batting-order position where they
would normally appear) in this team. Netters are free to add/delete/modify
to this list.

Largely because of the paucity of good bowlers, almost anyone
with a decent run in the Ranjis was tried out for the India team,
so there is a relative dearth of bowlers with good records and
still never picked for a Test. There are others like Ashish Zaidi
and K N Ananthapadmanabhan who just missed the date cut
having made their debut at the fag end of the 1980s decade.

I have left out such worthies as Rohit Sharma & Manoj Tiwary
who may still have a Test or more in their career records before
they hang up their kit. There are a couple of active players in my
XI above, but I doubt they will ever get a chance to play for India.

I considered several other players - Jacob Martin, Yere Goud,
Ronodeb Bose, AS Konwar, NP Singh, Vinayak Samant etc.
before settling on this XI. Dharmani plays as pure batsman,
three quicks, one OB (slightly suspect action and all) and
Sriram to turn over his arm for SLA. I suspect Sharath is
playing out of his "natural" position, but I could neither leave
him out nor play him anywhere else.

One that everyone has forgotten, new school exempted, Bhausaheb Nimbalkar, 443*...never played for India..he was a wicketkeeper, hence still hold the world record for highest score by a WK and of course highest by an Indian in.

He passed away last year at the age of 92.

He is known throughout the cricketing world for his feat of scoring 443 not out for Maharashtra against Kathiawar in a Ranji Trophy match at Pune in 1948-49..

Do you think he can be included?

He wasn't the wicket-keeper in the game where he scored the 443* (Joshi
was). And it's not the highest score by someone who kept wicket in other
games: Hanif Mohammad started his FC career as a keeper.

I was surprised Nimbalkar wasn't in the XI.
