for yourself.

If I name him, I fear he'll come back. Let's just say he's the most bigoted
piece of filth to have been seen on rsc. His facility with different IDs was
abominable. He doesn't have the gumption to post under his real name and even
tried to assume identities (although his English didn't improve).

Larry, that was indeed a valuable and sincere post, and not one of the
ones which earned you my nomination. But one grape does not make a
vineyard - the vast bulk of your contributions to this newsgroup are
reactionary bile, and I defer to the Court of Public Opinion for

Decidedly out of order, Darcy.

Yup, Larry gets involved in spats here, mostly as a reaction to the
bile and insults heaped upon him by your fellow countrymen.

Heck, Bob D rather conclusively proved that it was the likes of them
(aided by Paul 'I was only joking' Robson) who start all the nasty
stuff.

Larry has always been quick to apologise and offer sincere words of
support when appropriate, something I can't say I've ever seen from the
likes of the arsehole who posts under the nick of alvey sidecast.

Further, Larry gives us a SL perspective in a forum dominated by
whinging Aussies, and he posts interesting stuff from his personal
contact with the SL team (for which he gets called a liar etc).

Posts like this earn you my nomination as arsehole of the month.
Happy Xmas to you too.

You're right. To be a truly international forum, we need whingers from *all*
the cricket playing nations. And Pakistan.

And at least you admit to it, unlike Chapman, who couldn't lie straight

I know, it's a poor reflection on rsc that virtually all the whingers
here are Australian.

Is this because other countries don't produce nearly as many whingers,
or is it because their whingers don't post to rsc?

India played 12 tests in 2004, which is the same as England and West
Indies, and two behind Australia. Everyone else has played fewer tests
than these four. And this thread is only about 2004 performance.

Is everyone choosing Harmison out of sympathy for England? He has taken
wickets against the Windies and NZ, whilst McGrath's average is three runs
better and he has faced India in India, SL in SL, NZ and had one test
against Pakistan - whom, all things considered, still manage to look like a
better line-up than the Windies.

Harmison finally faced some decent batsman in South Africa and has the
return of 1/88 and 0/55. I know who I would be choosing first.

Kasprowicz has also been exceptional, averaging around 22 with the ball.

Gillespie (Harmison lost my vote after a bad test against SA -even

Tough one, choosing one among a group uninspiring captains. So left

Warne, Dravid, Flintoff, Lara, Fleming are all good catching at slips.
I want to go with the Bungster for his great speed, outstanding arm and
reasonably safe pair of hands, until I remembered hearing he hasn't
played a Test match all year. I haven't seen most of the Test matches
this year and so I'll follow Wittgenstein advice and remain silent.

He has had enormous impact on his team's success, but I personally hate
his guts. Without him and Martyn (given Ponting's captaincy induced
temporary loss of form and Hayden's indifferent play and Lehmann's
crazy footwork) Australia would have been in deep doo-doo this year.
But I probably did hedge ny bet, but not consciously I can tell you.

Fleming??? I've only watched the NZ in the Eng series recently but he
frequently didn't have a clue and let all three tests get away through
lack of action. Granted he had a lot of bad luck with injuries but
that is when a Captain comes into his own and IMHO he when MIA.

I just caught "Murder" on DVD, and if thats what towel-dropping housewives
look like, then you get plenty (to look at) anyway back home.

Seriously, whats with CiL's build up of Slinky Minky -- no Aishwarya Rai.

OK, 40 may be too much, but he was at least 14 runs better, meaning
with him at the helm, Aus may well have gone 3-0.

And yeah. Minky's not that special. She'd get lost in the crowd on a
Brizbane street.

In many areas where you can find permanent water, a reliable food source and
adequate shoreline vegetation, you're likely to find otter-like creatures
called minks. They're often killed for their fur.

As everyone who's seen the Cary Grant/Doris Day blockbuster "That Touch

Warne, how many wickets would he have if he didnt have a 12 month holiday

After a brilliant 50 in the brisbane test im sure glenn McGrath will put his
hand up. But thinking about it Gillespie's batting has been very good this
year, not scored many runs as other may have, but hung in there being a pain
on opposition bowlers.

Far too many good writers to single one out. Sadiq, Mike Holmans,
Andrew Dunford, Bob Dubery post very enjoyable stuff.

Well, I think Larry, Alvey, Ken Higgs and Paul Robson piss off to a
separate newsgroups called
rec.sport.murali.chucks.no.he.doesn't.you.are.a.racist. Make what you
will of this thought.
