Decidedly out of order, Darcy.
Yup, Larry gets involved in spats here, mostly as a reaction to the
bile and insults heaped upon him by your fellow countrymen.
Heck, Bob D rather conclusively proved that it was the likes of them
(aided by Paul 'I was only joking' Robson) who start all the nasty
stuff.
Larry has always been quick to apologise and offer sincere words of
support when appropriate, something I can't say I've ever seen from the
likes of the arsehole who posts under the nick of alvey sidecast.
Further, Larry gives us a SL perspective in a forum dominated by
whinging Aussies, and he posts interesting stuff from his personal
contact with the SL team (for which he gets called a liar etc).
Posts like this earn you my nomination as arsehole of the month.
Happy Xmas to you too.

You're right. To be a truly international forum, we need whingers from *all*

I know, it's a poor reflection on rsc that virtually all the whingers
here are Australian.
Is this because other countries don't produce nearly as many whingers,
or is it because their whingers don't post to rsc?

Is everyone choosing Harmison out of sympathy for England? He has taken
wickets against the Windies and NZ, whilst McGrath's average is three runs
better and he has faced India in India, SL in SL, NZ and had one test
against Pakistan - whom, all things considered, still manage to look like a
better line-up than the Windies.
Harmison finally faced some decent batsman in South Africa and has the
return of 1/88 and 0/55. I know who I would be choosing first.
Kasprowicz has also been exceptional, averaging around 22 with the ball.

Gillespie (Harmison lost my vote after a bad test against SA -even
before that his record was embellished by 7 Tests against the atrocious
WI lineup). Dizzy probably doesn't have the statistics to be the best
bowler, but he looked likely to take a wicket at any time with a great
leg-cutter.

Kumble (slow is a relative term - he perfomed enexpectedly brilliantly
against
Aus for my money)

Sigh. Are there any "best" keepers around?. As someone (Alvey?) said
Tsolekile looks good, but he's only a few Tests old. Wait long enough,
he'll screw up!

An(d)y doubts? Or should Gilly be considered an all-rounder?.

Tough one, choosing one among a group uninspiring captains. So left
blank.
>

Warne, Dravid, Flintoff, Lara, Fleming are all good catching at slips.
I want to go with the Bungster for his great speed, outstanding arm and
reasonably safe pair of hands, until I remembered hearing he hasn't
played a Test match all year. I haven't seen most of the Test matches
this year and so I'll follow Wittgenstein advice and remain silent.

Not Bucknor or Shepherd or Bowden or Taufel. Another over-rated,
under-criticised group of cricket-related officials. Some more
competition and/or introduction of technology will greatly aid the
game.

Betting each way, Raj? Langer has a bad attitude and ugly strokeplay,
and yet is the *close* runner-up for Player of the Year?
--
JPD
He has had enormous impact on his team's success, but I personally hate
his guts. Without him and Martyn (given Ponting's captaincy induced
temporary loss of form and Hayden's indifferent play and Lehmann's
crazy footwork) Australia would have been in deep doo-doo this year.
But I probably did hedge ny bet, but not consciously I can tell you.

Kumble if he qualifies as slow. If not, then Warne.

Adam Gilchrist by a long shot.

He came, He saw, He conquered (the Final Frontier).
Adam Gilchrist. He was at least 40 runs better than Ponting per Test,
based on the limited viewing I had (3 Tests for Gilchrist, 1 for Ponting).

Can we rename this the Sadiq Yusuf award, disqualify him from participating,

Too many to mention -- but a bunch of the bozos who abuse left

LdS at least uses his own name

Aslam by a country mile (though if he continues to be less than infallible,
the gap will close).
Honorable unmentionables: Yusuf, Holmans, Dunford.
Uday Rajan made a late push..

Any more blasphemy you blasphemer and you become my "unanimous" choice
for Q.19. Kinky,er, I mean Minki might not drop a towel as some
desperate housewife might but that is all we get in India and we are
happy with it.

She looks better with hair straightened. Plus they were probably IGP cameras
intended to nobble her.

A lot of them are the same person.

Fleming??? I've only watched the NZ in the Eng series recently but he
frequently didn't have a clue and let all three tests get away through
lack of action. Granted he had a lot of bad luck with injuries but
that is when a Captain comes into his own and IMHO he when MIA.

Well done Bharat Rao.
Ditto here as per the Poll thanks. Flame elsewhere.
Nope -- but I'll try to get back home for an Ind-Pak Test, if only the
bozos would release the schedule so we can plan...

I just caught "Murder" on DVD, and if thats what towel-dropping housewives
look like, then you get plenty (to look at) anyway back home.
Seriously, whats with CiL's build up of Slinky Minky -- no Aishwarya Rai.
Bharat [One Malika Sherawat > 10 Slinky Minky's]
OK, 40 may be too much, but he was at least 14 runs better, meaning
with him at the helm, Aus may well have gone 3-0.
Bharat
Ahem. As per Cloda, would you mind keeping the two Poll/Awards threads
uncluttered?
And yeah. Minky's not that special. She'd get lost in the crowd on a
Brizbane street.
And on a Rochdale street, you can see the Vale Mill factory which
produces Minky Homecare Products.
Cheers,
Mike
In many areas where you can find permanent water, a reliable food source and
adequate shoreline vegetation, you're likely to find otter-like creatures
called minks. They're often killed for their fur.
As everyone who's seen the Cary Grant/Doris Day blockbuster "That Touch
of Mink" knows.
