I have serious doubts that Aravind is a math fixer based in Australia.
Next time im gonna just piggy back on his selections like Mike did
this time.

okay here it goes:

- you need to select 3 players from the 2 teams as your players to tip
for the match.
eg. if aus vs pak test match, then asif, clarke, johnson is a valid
selection or
watson, yousuf, johnson is another valid selection.
- note that the players you select should be alternate from each team.
ie. if you decide
to choose 2 aussie players and 1 pak player, then the 2nd example i
gave above suits
or else if you want to choose 2 pak players and 1 aussie player,
then the first example
above is valid.
- generally we select upto 5 to 6 players because the if one of the
first 3 selected players
if not selected in the match or is injured etc and not playing, then
it will automatically pick
the next valid player of that country in your list. eg. watson,
yousuf, johnson, asif, clarke,
aamer is 6 player list but ideally only the first 3 will be selected
for the tipping...but in case
watson sits out due to an injury then the next valid aussie player
in your list outside of the
first 3 which is clarke will be added in his place. same with pak
players
- note that you don't make the mistake of selecting 2 players of
opposing teams from the same
position ie. watson(plays at #1) and Imran Farhat(who also plays at
#1) can be a problem
as thes players are tipped against each other as per their
positions....so in this case one will
minus out the other and net result will be zero and you will get the
scores of only 1 player in
your 3-player list.
- the scoring is generally done like 1 point for each run, 50 points
for each wicket taken, 20 for
each catch taken etc...not so sure but u can refer mikey's site when
he announce these
competetions before the start of the match...there is a link in his
post.
- sometimes strange and unfair things can happen that u select watson
(after strategising) who is at #1
against farhat but he may bat #1 in first inning and #3 in 2nd
inning so in 2nd inning he may be tipping
against whoever plays at #3 in that inning from pakistan...so its
not entirely in your hands and luck
plays a big part

This is just in a nutshell and i suggest u still go to mike's site to
understand it in detail..btw, all you
need to do is just join in the thread he starts before a match and
announce that 3-player or to be
safe 6-player list as per the rules that i gave above...have fun!

Okay just noticed he dosen't put the link nowadays so here is the
readme from an old post of his.

Rules of the Head-to-head Tipping Competitions.

I will attempt to run Head-to-Head Tipping Competeitions for the SL v
England and South Africa v WI Test series, but I can't be bothered
posting two sets of rules.

The rules of this tipping comp seem long and complicated but they're
not, really.

1 The aim is to predict three winners of head-to-head matchups in
Tests, and it is an obvious nonsense for you to pick both sides of a
matchup.

2 The matchups are in batting order: the guy who bats at 3 for one
side has his score compared with the guy who bats 3 for the other
side, and ends up with the difference, positive or negative.

3 Matchups are for one innings only; if the batting orders in the
second innings are changed, then the matchups for that innings change
accordingly.

4 You need to nominate a minimum of three players in order of
perference for one side and two for the other. Further players would
be reserves in case of non-selection etc. If you submit lists of
equal
length, state which is to be regarded as the longer one for the
purposes of the next paragraph.

5 The first name in your longer list is a banker. You will get the
first player on the shorter list unless he is matched up against your
banker, in which case you get the next name. You wil get the second
player on the longer list if he isn't opposite the player you've just
selected, otherwise the next.

6 So, if your entry was:

Vaughan, Butcher, Hussain
Atapattu, Sangakkara

and they batted 2,3,4 and 2,3 in the first innings, you would get
Vaughan, Sangakkara (because Atapattu's opposite Vaughan), and
Hussain
(because Butcher's opposite Sangakkara). If in the second innings
Jayasuriya were injured and Atapattu took first strike with
Sangakkara
as his partner, you would still get Vaughan but now Atapattu's free
and so then is Butcher, so you have Vaughan, Atapattu, Butcher for
I2.

7 If both sides do not complete their innings, the batting order will
be assumed to be the same in first and second innings. If the first
innings do not complete, then the scorecard on the BBC website will
be
taken to be definitive as to batting order. If a player is forced to
take no further part in a match, he will be deemed to bat at the end
of any further innings.

8 Scoring:

Batting: +1 for each run scored
Bowling: +50 for each assisted wicket (caught/stumped)
+60 for each bowled, lbw or hit wkt
+2 for each maiden
-1 for each run conceded
Fielding: +10 for each catch
+20 for each stumping
-1 for each bye conceded
+60 points shared by the perpetrators of a runout

9 Nominations should be posted to rsc with Subject: HHTC SLvE/RSAvWI
Tn Selections, depending on which comp you wish to enter and which
Test it is.

10 If you fail to post an entry for a particular test, it will be
assumed to be the same as the previous one. If that means your lists
run out of qualifying players, you will just score with whatever
entry
is possible from the names supplied.

11 Selections must be posted before the Test in question begins.

12 If you suspect I've killfiled you but are not sure, submit an
entry. If it doesn't appear in the list of runners and riders, then
you have confirmation that your posts don't reach my newsreader and
yes, it's deliberate.

13 The wooden spoon for coming last in both competitions is hereby
awarded to Andrew Dunford to save time.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks Don! I'll try my luck but looks like I won't be winning
anything at all...Dunford is already the honorary wooden spoon winner!

Mike -- last I checked, your site gave the above format. But I think
you want

Vaughan, Atapattu, Butcher, Sanga, Hussain, right?

Correct. I do prefer the names in a single line. I must update the
instructions sometime.
