This has to be the worst losing streak among the top eight test
cricketing nations. I can't imagine a scenario where a team can't even
save one single game. Part of it could be that Pakistan haven't hosted
a test match against Australia in all those ten occasions. That'd be
another record as well.

Few other interesting stats:

* Pakistan haven't won a game against Australia since the Sydney test
in 1995.

* Pakistan haven't crossed 400 runs in an innings in Australia since
the MCG test in 1983.

* And haven't gone above 350 runs since the Brisbane test in 1999.

* Out of the ten successive losses, three have been inning defeats and
three, where Australia won by at least nine wickets. Two other defeats
had Pakistan going down by 170 runs and 491 runs!

These are truly dismal stats. Though I still believe that Pakistan can
avoid whitewash this time. Except for Johnson, Austrlian bowling isn't
impressive. I'd say, this is the weakest Australian bowling attack I
have seen for quite some time. It's just that Pakistan batting is too
brittle and they lack the experience and subsequently mental capacity
to concentrate for long. As they play more and more test cricket,
things will get better, and hopefully within the next four test matches
with Australia (two would be in England), they can even win a game.

Go Pakistan!!

To me, these are the two truly astonishing facts among all those
listed by TD and yourself. The sequence of losses may well be due to
the absence of home tests, as you point out. The 14-year test win
drought against Aus is also not that significant. These are dismal
stats, but not astonishing.

That Pak has not crossed 350 in an innings vs. Aus in a decade in
which batting was generally very easy, is truly astonishing. I've read
two articles in the last 24 hours that mention the importance of
"scoreboard pressure" in an era in which pitch-pressure and bowler-
pressure are at a low ebb.
