Is Mosley a Muslim or is Mudine all wet?

I read comments by Anthony Mundine...

I'm a Muslim and I can't allow myself to lose to a Christian. My people
are persecuted all over the world and they need inspirational figures
like myself, Zinedine Zidane in soccer and also fellow fighters like
Sugar Shane Mosley to look up to."

I have never read or heard Mosley talk about his religion, so I don't
see why Mundine has any business talking about it. Does anyone know if
Mundine is even correct?

Don't you recall that Mosley spoke of having converted to the Mulim faith
while he was in prison?

Or did he say he went from a wide weave cotton to muslin?

Mundine is a curious creature....a self-proclaimed Muslim AND a
dreamtime-believing Australian Aboriginal.

The abject contradictions between monotheism and stone-age animism apparently
haven't occured to him.

Shane is not Muslim.

I can 'understand' the duality of his beliefs. When traveling in the
Peruvian Andes, I met people who were Christians and followers of the faith
of the Incas. They have held on to their historical beliefs, which the
Spanish tried to displace with Christianity.

God bless the Spanish Inquisition. I've always loved inquisitive people.

It goes a little deeper than just 'accomodating' another belief system.

If you're a Muslim, you believe as a central tenet of your faith that there is
only one God.

You can't call yourself a Muslim and believe in the Serpent God and dozens of
other like deities, any more than you can be a blind person with 20/20 vision or
a deaf person with perfect pitch.

It's a contradiction in terms, but for Mr Mundine, such a contradiction is merely
another obstacle for him to overcome, in a life filled with obstacles placed in
front of him by others.

This kinds of things are normally explained by religious people with
asinine remarks like "god many and he is one".

You can't apply logic to any religion. Once you take the step of
believing in god, you might as well believe that the universe is a
teacup on the back of a giant anteater or whatever. Believing that
there are lots of gods at the same time as there being one god is
easier to believe than a big bloke with a white beard made the world
in seven days.
