After a couple of more or less lousy main events (with much more
interesting undercard fights), finally a fight between two expert
boxers! Yeah, weird to say that about Alvarez, but take a look
yourselves. He just needed a guy like Trout to bring it all up to the
surface. Yes, Mosley is skilled, but his "distinctness" was long gone
at the time he fought Alvarez, so Alvarez didn't have to be on edge.
It's like sparring with a guy with more experience than you. First 10
seconds, you think, "This is completely pointless. I'm never going to
keep up with this guy", but two minutes later, you're like "What
the...? I almost had him!" - I've seen this so many times it surprises
me, that I got so surprised!
The Trout jab is a real pest. He throws it all the time, and most
often it stops half a decimeter from your head, so you won't get a
second rest. He throws it sometimes above, sometimes on the inside. He
throws it from below, making it more difficult to detect. (But
sometimes, his raises both hands to chin level, I think for stationary
defence when close and a bit fatigued to retreat.)
Great, close fight! I really hope those guys fight again!
