Diaz got off to a terribly slow start which might have cost him the
fight.

Khan down again - but he was off balance (his fault, of course) when
those shots landed, and wasn't that hurt. He didn't loose his head, as
he said he wouldn't, but stuck to the plan, and fought out the rest of
that round in control.

But, in the end stage of the fight, Khan *was* hurt, and - to me, it
sure looked like he lost his head and just fired off every gun and
cannon he had. A stroke of luck he wasn't down a second time.

The previous guy Khan fought, Molina, wasn't a test. Molina was just
100% underskilled in the face of Khan. But experienced (49 fights),
tough Mexican Diaz is another animal. So I'm happy for Khan. Khan is
like the kid across the street: You respect him, but you can still be
pals.

I don't know if this was due to the nature of the fight, or if Khan
has improved (or both), but I only saw him push once. In the Peterson
fight, whenever Khan got frustrated on the inside, he resorted to
pushing, which the referee penalized him for.

There has been some interest in Khan's trainer, Virgil Hunter, who
Khan turned to after being KO'd by Garcia (when Khan was with
Roach). Hunter and Khan won the fight, and you can't mess with that,
but I don't like the way Hunter gave instructions to Khan from so low
below the ring (to the left). The fighter shouldn't have to twist his
head 90 degrees to hear the instructions from his trainer. He should
look straight forward and be as relaxed as possible.
