The odds are very close and no one seems to be willing to take a side or express their views on who they think will come out the victor of the biggest Boxing Event in Australia or in its history.
Personally I think Danny Green's mental strength and highly cultured fighting background will see him victorious. His strength will also be hard to match. Anthony Mundine may have some speed and skill - however it is just so hard to imagine him knocking out Danny Green......unless of course he has his car handy to reverse over him a couple times to make sure he stays down.........as I am sure there is nothing else that will keep Danny Green out on the canvas for a full 10 count.
the most amazing thing I think is the lack of any "noise" coming from the Anthony Mundine camp. For a man known as "the Mouth" it has been amazingly quiet.

Anthony Mundine's father, Tony Mundine, has announced he has quit as trainer, and Roy Jones Jnr is Anthony's new man in the corner.
The fight is scheduled for May 17th, Sugar Ray Leonard's birthday iirc.

Just two thoughts Mundine is an overrated wussy of a fighter who isn't worth anymore mention. -- v/r Dread Pirate Rackham

I have already stated here that I think Choc will win it.
For an ex-footballer, who quit the sport cause he was fed up with what he saw as bad politics regarding his non selection for the national and state teams, he has switched to boxing and has done really well.
I like his style, I like his showmanship and I like the fact that he has got boxing back on peoples minds once again, people who would normally not discuss the sport.
It is the most anticipated fight for Australian sports fans since Holyfield v Tyson 2.
Every pub, bar and sports club will be full, the stadium will be full and we are in for one helluva night.
I've been concerned of late that Green is past his best but pictures of late show him to be in great condition.
He has power and will be dangerous but I think Choc will have him chasing shadows, much like Leonard v Duran 2 in New Orleans.
One thing is for sure though, there is no way in hell that Danny Green will quit halfway thru! He wants to end Chocs career and will chase him down all night.
I just hope the fight doesn't come on too late, as in the past (with Mundine fights) we have been swamped by lead-up bouts and thus the main event hasn't arrived until past 10 pm. It is a work night after all! With Danny Greens hometown support base on Australia's West Coast, which is 3 hrs behind the East (Sydney, Melbourne), I'm a little concerned that they will delay the start time for people in the West to settle in after work, which means here in Sydney we could get a late one.

Oh and the fact that he wasn't nearly as good as the guys already playing in his position. Choc had no chance at all of toppling Fittler or Daley (who is also an aboriginal) as the No 6 in any form of rugby league. He played the race card and made a fool of himself.

Yeah but for every single supporter he gets, another two want to see him beat to a pulp. Like I've previously said in here, most Mundane fighters I see at the pub have at least two thirds of the crowd cheering when he gets hit.
> It is the most anticipated fight for Australian sports fans since > Holyfield v Tyson 2.
To be honest, this is the most anticipated fight I have even encountered. I rate this fight even bigger than any world title fight I've anxiously waited for in the past. There will be no excuses for fighting in someone else's backyard. Two aussies of world class fighting in Oz. I just hope the ref is up to it and doesn't let Mundine get away with that shit he pulled on Echols. If the ref allows that kind of shit to occur, the fans will tear down the ring and javelin him down towards Fox studios somewhere.

Agreed.
> I've been concerned of late that Green is past his best but pictures of > late show him to be in great condition.
Absolutely pristine condition. He'd want to be because it was Green who has been calling Mindine out for the past three years waiting for this opportunity.

I believe he will do it too.

There is a pool of drool forming near my Fox remote control. This fight is being booked for home to avoid the crowds. I reckon the Yanks should really tune into this fight. There's been too many one sided, predictable and boring fights in this division of late. This particular fight has two guys with pretty well equal talent, they are both highly rated in all organisations and they have hugely contrasting styles. They hate each other with a passion despite the recent "I have the utmost respect................" bullshit for the media. It's on!
Honestly I can't believe anyone is comparing Anthony Mundines abilities to Danny Green's. A few people need a lesson on good boxing skills here I think, including Anthony "The Mouth' (very true) Mundine.
Mundine is certainly not without his skills or speed. However, to boost his own ego Danny has pandered to Mundine's every whim to ensure that the fight could go ahead and give the public what they want.......which is this super fight. This is the opposite to Anthony Mundine's motivation to fight Danny Green which was driven by his desire for his own personal gain - as there certainly is no title on the line.
Mundine would not give the public what they wanted unless he got the top billing, the most money and chose the location....as if desperately clinging onto the last threads of control over his flagging career. Danny Green cares not for these things and like a man whose belief is steadfast, has waited patiently for the opportunity to let his fists do the talking in the face Anthony Mundine's over self-compensating taunts.
Danny just wants to silence the mouth who dared to once call him a bum and give the public what they want and show that the only TRUE fighter in the ring on May 17 will be Danny Green.
This quintessential difference in the driving force of Danny Green to that of Anthony Mundine, irrespective of skill, in my opinion, is the difference that will prove once and for all who the real bum is in the biggest boxing match in Australian history.
A tsunami warning should be issued in the wake of the tidal sized sound wave created from the laughter eminating from the entire state of Western Australia as they laugh as one united voice at Choc the Clown.

Are operating under the pseudonym "Green...Machinery", because you don't want to give us a real name, just in case you and your over the top predictions are going to make you look a little silly on May 17th?
danny green is reach advantage strengh advatage dannys gonna need to keep close to the gound and arch his back keeping up jabs if keeps every thing tight mudine will have to go for wild shots hay makers and sucker hits exposing him self and out in the open physically mundine is at a disadvantage hes gonna need all of his expertise to win if danny sticks to center spot light its his show and weel all watch mundine get a rearanged face lets hope danny gets him in a corner

If Choc loses I'll be back here with egg on my face but nevertheless I'll be under the same name, I was once Blair Kavanagh, now I am Blairomatic.
I'm prepared to say Choc will win and if he doesn't then I'll be back to face the music.
However you, my friend, can just saunter off unknown if Danny is beat, and either go away for good or return under a new and shameless pseudonym.
That's the point I was making when I questioned the use of your name. You are protecting yourself from any humiliation.
You talk big, but if that big talk aint good enough then you won't have to be around to get the flak.
This is just a side comment of mine though, I appreciate you being here and starting this post! You seem like a good person and we'll be united on the night by the sheer excitement of the build up! Not the result though!!!! And if Danny does go down, you better come back for at least one more post under the name "Green...Machinery"!!!

If the fight were even bening shown here there's be more talk of this, I suspect..
Part of the problem, of course, is that we haven't seen these guys on tv much (or at all?).
Frankly, the only reason I like Green is because I saw him spar with James Toney and was very impressed by... err..... the way he took the ass-whooping? Anyway, I read up on him afterwards and became a fan.
Mundine soulds like a guy I would like too, nothing wrong with being a character..
Green's got a lot going for him, I mean its true Aussie pride and he really wants to finally put an end to Mundine. And on the other side you have Mundine, who has pissed a lot of people off with his uneducated tone. I just don't think Allah will be there to save him. Greens going to kick his ass back to Afghanistan with all of his suicide friends. I still can't get my head around his remarks praising the 9/11 hijackers!!!!! But hey, not long, I so badly want green to mess Mundine up once and for all.
What about sportsmanship it gives the sport itself respect. Anyone in any sport should have a level of respect for their opponents and not run them down. Anthony Mundine may well be a good boxer but as for sportsmanship he has shown nothing of the sort, which you'll find is why alot of people do not like him.Just for that reason alone I think he should lose the fight against the ever humble Danny Green just to shut his big mouth up. But that's just how I feel. But of course everyone is entitled to their oppinions 100% and I thank you for yours. Loco
That hilarious Kick Arse Chick - but I think it is best saved for AFTER Danny Green shuts mundine's enormous mouth..... .......then we can all sit back and blow smoke in his stupid monkey face and he will have to sit there.............................groovin' on it ;)

Presactly. Motormouth Muslim Mundine is not only a loudmouth before a fight, but finds no problem rubbing it in after fighting some no-ranking palooka nobody has ever heard of by doing the childish cut-throat gesture to his opponent laying on the ground. He's a real role model isn't he? I think all the aussie muslims look up to Mundine which might explain why the muslims living in Sydney have little or no respect for anyone else but themselves. It might also explain why violent displays of thuggery and lack of respect for the wellbeing of others is predominant in this community.
Before anyone brings up the *racist* or *bias* thing, please remember that it was Mundine who mentioned the *doing it for his Muslim brothers* crap. Go Green!!!!!!!!!
