It looks one dimensional and crude to me. And he is not punching
upwards enough. Against someone like Valuev I would not work on
swinging 1-2s at chest level. but rather at straight upward ones. Very
straight ones.

if this is all ha ha is doing for sparing id say he has no chance. he
needs to spar with someone who will punch back. ha ha haye has no
chance i mean all he did was throw a punch or 2 drop his hands a walk
around the ring ha ha

I doubt they would be showing everything in an open media workout - I
remember when we had to wait all day to see Kosta training for Hatton and in
the end all the team would let us see was bagwork and some standing on his
head!

Tactics here look to whack to the body then move out.
Seems a decent tactic - Haye has been known to have stamina issues so win
the rounds and score points rather than all out trying to finish Valuev off.

Which new dimension would you add?

He js fast on his feet and powering in with FAST and HARD punches at a
higher target.

Valuev is a slow plodding Ox of a man.

Can could do no more than he is doing now.

Holyfield did well but without the real straight hammers going in.

Who ever said for one minute that was ALL he was doing? This was a demo
of how he is preparing, in one aspect, for Valuev.

As a world champ and professional boxer I suspect Haye realises he has
to spar. In the interview he specifically mentions the glove and size
difference between sparring and the real thing.

Of course it is unfair to judge by a one minute workout. But I thought
his legs were way too wide apart, he was crouching, and he was winging
his punches on the outside. I think Valuev can be very easily timed. I
would devise a plan around a lot of lateral, circular mobility and jab/
cross or jab/hook combos.

But the best way to lose against Valuev is to fight chest to chest and
allow him to weight you down in clinches. Your legs will be shot
within 5 rounds, tops, and your punches sapped of any snap. And the
video does not show Haye trying to be elusive enough, but rather just
punching quickly on his way to a clinch, basically.

As he should do. Launch upwards and almost straight - certainly not
hooks as they would remove a lot of power and length.

I disagree. I think that training is him launching the heavy bombs from
the crouch (jumping in) and then falling away to back off and await his
next opportunity. Only a week to wait and see!!!

I cant wait for this one!

He should have 4 losses, if not for the crooked-ass German judging

I remember Lamon Brewster having to knock out some guy TWICE in the
same fight to get a decision over there, fucking ridiculous

He lost to Holyfield for sure. Both times to you know who. Much as I
want Haye to knock him out : it surely can not happen. He is simply too
big.

Haye CAN win on points if he doesnt blow his load by about the
6th. Which he may well do.

One comment here : I'm sick to death of arseholes talking about "you can
not win a decision in Germany". Arse. The only really bad decision I saw
here was Ottke v Reid. That was bad. The rest. Hmmm. I can believe the
judges saw it differently.

All I can say is the worst refereeing I have ever seen was the Ottke/Reid
fight.
Alot of Ottke playacting through his career has gotten him wins that I think
he didnt deserve.
But then Ruiz conned his way out of a stoppage loss to Holyfield so you're
right its not just Germany!

Well, lets see come the fight.

Haye's style looks like it will be a lot more attack with straight
punches than the others have managed.

To be honest I find it hard to care about that fight. Valuev is a big
joke, and Haye has done nothing to excite anyone.

Undisputed cruiser weight champ moves to HW and blows his first opponent
away while showing signs of being vulnerable to a hard tap? He's got a
big gob too. Murdered Enzo Maccarinelli and effectively ended his

I fail to see how, as a boxing fan, you can not be interested in this.

It has it all:

Championship, doors opening, "disrespect", size difference, skill v
power, Klitschko Inc. at ringside etc etc.

I can't "weight". Pun intended.

I suspect we will know by the end of the fourth how it will end.

Yes, but I thought the Holyfield fight was even more clear-cut. At
worst, it was 8-4 Holyfield, probably more like 10-2.

It's not that Evander looked great, he didn't. But landing 10-12
punches a round is more than zero, every time. Was Valuev even in the
ring in that fight? I'm not sure...

Valuev is HORRIBLE. Anyone who makes me pine for John Ruiz is really
bad.
