Accuracy in power stroked cut shots: discovering individual constants for any required aiming adjustments
Recently I assigned a dozen of my rec center pool students the highly useful task of discovering, over week-long trials, how much compensation (if any) they had to make when shooting cut shots involving power follow strokes as well as power draw shots on cuts (to snap the cue ball to a rail and out again with low-right or low-left... more »

Mills vs. Van Boening
Anybody signed up to watch Donny Mills versus Shane Van Boening tomorrow and Sunday? [link] Should be an awfully good match! I've played both these guys, but Donny was something like 10 years ago, I suspect he's improved a tad since then. ;-) Shane's gotta be the favorite, but Donny just finished higher than... more »

AIPAC spy: "AIPAC is spy organization"
I'm posting this just to give the advocates of those US citizens whose first loyalty is to a foreign country something to do. "According to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Steven J. Rosen will be allowed to move ahead with his civil defamation lawsuit against the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). Rosen and fellow AIPAC... more »

OK. Just in for me. But since I haven't heard any of yous guys mention it I'm calling an extry extry: Save this link: [link] They have tons of free streams (no sound I'm told) of sports galore (including the BBC's Skywatch stuff). Thousands of streams. Now I can watch my football team play on something other than GameCenter... more »

I didn't see a good option
I ran a rack (almost) but got myself stuck like this on the 8-ball shot: [link] 4AFGc4BMGE4CChN2DBjS2EVfB2FEJH 3GUtB3HYpH4PIEx4kIEx4kbXp3kWUP @ I saw two optoins 1) Give my opponent intentional ball in hand. Probably not a good idea with this guy and a wide open table. Or 2) Try a kick like... more »

WOT HAPPENED???
Typically, I wander out to the poolroom and make a few balls, miss a few. This morning was different. I could "see" every shot. I never missed in 3 racks of 9-ball. This got me thinking. (Yeah, DANGEROUS, I know). Is there some way this mental process can be "sharpened" at will? Confused old Nat... more »

My question is this, how do YOU justify it? I just need to hear a good reason to take the ride vs runnin the out? I kknow it seems like a silly question but I'm playin in our BCA... more »

ESPN Pool Parody on SNL
I missed this last week when it aired, and I just saw this skit in a rerun. It is basically a parody of women's pool coverage on ESPN, and in particular about the color commentary. I know lots of people here don't care for Mitch Laurance in the booth, so you will probably get a kick out of this skit.... more »

smaller or bigger diameter shaft?
I recently switched from a 12.4mm shaft down to a 11.7mm shaft. A lot of players, the better ones play with a small dia. shaft however, i know of a couple pro's that play in the area of 13.25mm. What do you all think? i figure since most of you are from the east coast or mid-west, where all the talent obviously is, you may have... more »
