Hey, so now Verizon has dropped newsgroups and I have to find a way,
other than Google, to access them. I read an old post of mine and
John Black recommended Gravity. I'd prefer something free like
Gravity over a pay option.

My question is whether Gravity or other free newsreaders can be
configured to work within Outlook Express. It is convenient for me to
open my email, and then open the newsgroups from the tab in Outlook.
Can this be done, or will I have to open a new program on my desktop
when I want to access rec.sport.billiard?

Dan, I recommend news.eternal-september.org as a replacement for your
Verizon service. You can still use Outlook Express if you want.

Eternal-September has been working fine for, me, since ATT dropped NGs.
Everything ends looking and working pretty much the same as before.

Thanks everybody. Yes, I was using servers and readers
interchangeably. I guess I just needed to know that I could use OE
with most any news server.
