(*<~ So, I'm thinking of a cross between the closed house of Big
Brother and the island antics of Survivor. Potential setting :
30 days in a locked poolroom with 16 poolplayers and a prize of
$1,000,000.
Take 16 players such as Keith McCready, Grady, Buddy,Tommy K.,
Ditoro, etc. (you'd want some 'characters' AND some nits.
The players would have to be well known, both nationally and
internationally (the female version might come later). They would be
locked in a poolroom with NO smoke-eaters and smokers wouldn't be
allowed to have cigarettes for the first week. After a week, they would be
given all the 'cigars' that they wanted. Cigarettes would be a 'prize'
that they would have to win. The bar would have NO liquor for the first
two weeks, but then it would be fully stocked. A case of beer or a bottle
of booze could be a 'prize' during the first 2 weeks.
There would be hidden cameras everywhere.
There would be lots of action/matches and every couple of days the
player with the worst won/loss record would be kicked out of the house.
There could be a running poker game for those awaiting their matches.
The mix of no cigarettes for smokers at the beginning would be as
frustrating for them as them getting their cigarettes would be for the
non-smokers. The same with the booze. Patience would be short, tempers
would flare, alliances made (and destroyed). How well can you play if
you're one of those dying for a smoke or drink ? How long before heads
are together plotting a 'dump', a 'double dump' or the dreaded 'creepin'
& peepin' & sneakin' in the back door TRIPLE DUMP'.
The colorful characters, the bleeped language, the wonderful stories
related by this gathering of pool players, the arguing, the whining, the
nitpicking, the FIGHTS.
The possibilities are endless. Like Sam Peckinpah come to the small
screen. The success of this possible show would depend on the 'mix' of
the 16 players involved. Who would you nominate ? Could this work?
If I could make any money from this idea, I promise to quickly go around
and lose it to the 'regular participants' of RSB/ASP.......

I need a drink & Becky needs a smoke,

Doug

You know....ESPN2 would probably get better ratings for a show like this
then they would for most of the junk they put on there (ie, X-Games,
motocross, etc).

You, sir, are a genius, and deserve to be rich enough to afford your
psychiatric care.
