After debating some questionable table raising methods in order to get
the shims under (some of them involving car jacks and also pry bars) I
decided to call in the two table mechanics who once recovered several
of our tables.
I wanted to pass on to any interested RSBers the very simple way that
one of the mechanics safely and surely raised the table enough for his
partner to slip a series of shims under the two legs to get it
perfectly level:
He stood near the side pocket, squatted down low enough for his knees
to clear, then duck-walked into the under-framing about a foot till
his mid-thighs were positioned under the edge of the frame and raised
his thighs up about four inches and his thighs lifted/tilted the half-
ton table as easily as if the table weighed ten pounds.

I'm impressed. I probably could have done that in my earlier years. Now I
use a 2 ton bottle jack, and three boards cut specifically for the purpose.
You only have to lift it a tad. Once you find a good place to lift where it
won't mar the surface, you could use a long lever, too.
