I was watching some classic pool on cable, Mosconi vs. Fats, and in
the final game of 8-ball, Fats lost because he was on the 8-ball and
he failed to contact the 8. I couldn't believe it! I thought loss
of game if you missed hitting the 8-ball was some stupd, obscure,
red-neck bar rule that never was played anywhere real, but there it
was on tv in all it's glory. And evidently the players involved in
that tournament (Mosconi, Fats, Lassiter, I forget the rest of the
names right now, but the bunch from that era) where familar with it as
no one complained. Wow!

They had a bunch of goofy rules and games (seven ball?!) for those TV
events. Often times, you'd see these legendary players asking what the
rules were. It was Made for TV Pool.
