GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Seems like there's a bit of a pipeline from New
Jersey to Gainesville.

Former Rutgers guard Eli Carter has decided to transfer to Florida,
according to a source close to the UF program. He's the second former
Scarlet Knights player to join Billy Donovan's program. Mike Rosario,
who left Rutgers for UF in 2010, just completed his redshirt senior
season.

The 6-foot-2 Carter -- who said via his Twitter account he was
"proud to announce that I will be continuing my career at the
University of Florida!!" -- was granted his release from Rutgers
in the wake of the firing of coach Mike Rice earlier this month.
Carter plans to petition the NCAA for immediate eligibility.

Carter led Rutgers in scoring in 2012-13 (14.8 points per game) while
shooting 38.4 percent from the floor and 32.0 percent from 3-point
range. Carter averaged 13.8 points and 2.1 rebounds per game as a
freshman. He had a career game against Florida on Dec. 29, 2011,
scoring a career-high 31 points and had a career-high seven assists in
the Scarlet Knights' 85-83 overtime victory in Piscataway, N.J.

The addition of Carter and McDonald's All-American signees Kasey Hill
(Eustis, Fla./Montverde Academy) and Chris Walker (Bonifay,
Fla./Holmes County) gives Florida 13 scholarship players for the
2013-14 season.
