for his age and experience, allen iverson has got the best ballhandling
skillz in the nation. Watching himlast night against Memphis, he made
some mistakes, but that can be attributed to his youth and inexperience,
in time, he is sure to become the next Isiah Thomas, mark my words.
Da Weez, good point about Iverson's charecter, but if you look or read
about why he went to jail, the whole issue is controversial and there are
no hard facts except that he was there. Why would a popular b-ball
player, who knew he was going to go to a major college basketball team
get into a sheap scuffle at a bowling alley. I deduct from what i have
read that the people barking at Iverson knew who he was anf thought that
he wasn't all that. They were drunk and white, so that brings in the
whole race issue, Iverson i think did nothing, but let his "boyz" hamdle
it. He was just there and exploited because of his status. You also have
to remember that Isiah won his title when he was a junior, and with
Othella Haarington getting better every second, once Iverson gets a year
under his belt, and John T. brings in anothergood reccruiting year,
Georgetown will resemble Georgetown of old, always in the thivk of
things, and this time they will not be overcome by Johnny Dawkins, Ed
Pickney and Villanova.
PIMP DADDY
the wisdom comes from within
mad props to that, lorenzen wright can be great, but didn't everybody
also say that about a certain seton hall center, along with terry dehere?
skillz represent each others, but hopefully lorenzen will get some better
breaks.,
First off, what does questionable character have to do with ball playing
SKILLS? Secondly, I suggest you get the facts about Iverson before
condemning him like you do. Come to think of it, I'm sick of defending
Iverson on this forum. Here are the facts as written by SI and as well
as I can remember. Iverson was 17 or 18 and was involved in a bowling
alley brawl. It was 5 white guys vs 5 black guys. I think four of the
black guys wer convicted while none of the white guys were.
I'm not usually one to yell racism, but come on. He was sentenced to
three years in jail for one measly fight. This does not excuse him for a
bad judgement call on that day, but certainly probation or community
service would have been more appropriate for a kid with no prior record.
Let's not judge him based on one incident. I wouldn't want to be judged
by some of the things I did when I was 17 or 18.
So, this is at least the fifth time that I've responded to somebody
about this subject, not to mention the times that I've decided to ignore it.
What do you say we just let the kid play basketball?
Corey
Sorry if this was somewhat incoherent, but I feel like a broken record!!
i feel for you man. i suggest that we try to get a handle on
that SI story or on one of the local papers to find out the actual
skinny on the charges. I was living in Hampton at the time, and
not a single one of these stories posted on rsbc sounds anything
like the one i remember.
so please, if you don't have the exact story(no more "i think")
just leave it behind and accept the fact that its over and
character or not, Iverson has got great potential, or SKILLZ
as mr. PIMP DADDY wants to call them.
