The Rose Award goes to Jorge Posada of the New York Yankees, who went
one-for-three with three RBI in a 7-4 win over the Philadelphia
Phillies.

Alex Rodriguez gets hit again with Phillie pitches and responds by
hitting a key double that broke a tie ballgame.

The Rose Committee has always said that if you're trying to intimidate
a batter, you have to do a little headhunting, like Drysdale or
Gibson. Hitting the backside or the legs won't do it.

This is somewhat comparable to the poor tackling currently going on in
the NFL. Instead of tackling, players dive into the legs of the
receiver hoping to trip him up. That's not a tackle. The Steelers'
Troy Polamalu makes it work, but a lot of players don't.
