Freshman Brent Mooneyham pitched 6 innings in today's game (Oregon State 5, Stanford 2). He walked 6, hit one, and the defense made 4 errors behind him. That's 11 free passes on the bases. Despite all that he gave up only 2 unearned runs.

He's gonna have to get better at the plunk if he ever wants to transfer to Rice.

He's only a freshman. Give him time. (But has any Stanford baseball player ever transferred to Rice? We lost a guy to U. of Tejas a few years back, but that's the only one I remember.) - T

I doubt it, but it's only recently that Rice perfected the art of the plunk.

Keep in mind that the NCAA changed the transfer rules at the beginning of this school year, and baseball is no longer eligible for the one-time exemption to the one-year sit-out rule for transfers.

Thanks, Don. I wasn't aware of that -- although I did know about the differing treatment of football, basketball, and baseball transfers. - Tony

Jeff Jorgensen - 2003. Stanford fans recall 2003, no?
