Anyone actually jumping???

I mean, I do...... and I like it..... I actually get kind of a rush out of
it and I find it pretty much fixes whatever is wrong with the day. Anyone
ever try going for a drop just for the enjoyment of flying through the
atmosphere... Fuck, I can't be alone in this... nothing to prove, no
stories to tell, just jumping 'cause I like it.
If it is MANDATORY I will go find some silly cause to jump (I can't F'n
stand Liptenstein, and I think broccoli is managed by a cartel of sorts),
but unless it becomes mandatory I will just jump because I like it and be
alone..

too good to pass up: I retired in 1996, Jerry K is fairly active. He
jumps for money

A few lurkers may still be pretty active but most of the power posters
excluding
Jerry K have slacked off for to just a few a year to none at all for
one reason or another.
Take peanut, he's a well known party jumper in Georgia & Alabama but
his drinking gotten away from him, he has a high maintenance woman
and some kind of hobby farm that keep him busy....If he can sober up
long enough and sneak off from Lucky he may get in a few jumps.
Chuck is well into middle age and has medical problems with his guts,
dunno how often he gets out to the DZ but not as much as before I'm
betting.
Jumbo retired from his job, moved to Nevada and kind of dropped out of
sight.
Lodi Mike a TM/JM out in Queerafornia is probably around the Lodi DZ
regular, don't know how many jumps he's putting in though.....Probably
fewer because he's around 67 years old. He don't like to be seen
associating with wreck ruffians so he mostly lurks, you really need to
piss him off to get him to post.
A lot of the regulars from past years have gone on for various
reasons......RL because she became to neuritic to handle the pressure
around here...Two more went over to dot com and became moderators and
some more because they wanted to impress the newbies over
there....skygods needing their ego stroked don't get much respect
around here. Jerry's got a foot in both camps----he hangs here because

Sorry.... The mouse got away from me.
I was thinking back from a few years ago at how busy it was in here, been
back lurking for maybe two years now... Different place for sure . But
hey, if insults are the driving factor now I'm all for it... I'm not a nice
person (although I'm generally not cruel to old people or animals.)

The Britt's started U.K. Skydiving and that bled off quite a few
emotional types,
the DZ dot com started up and most of the newbies went there because
the skydiving information is better, too bad some of them were good
agitators. The rest just grew up and moved on----which is about
average. Skydivers only have about a 60 sec attention span-----The
USPA did a survey in the 1990's, the conclusion was the average urban
skydiver only stayed in the sport 7 years before getting bored and
moving on. I gave this some thought because many geezers from the 60's
70's and 80's tend to stay a lifetime. My conclusion on that
is......they have no outside life and few prospects. Most of the old &
long timers were involved in the money end of the sport in various
ways. JM, TM/JM's, Master Riggers. I didn't follow up my own
curiosity. A massive
stroke that left me paralyzed on the left side put me out of the sport
or else I would have doggedly hung on. A combination of being hooked
on Adrenalin and provoking high strung type A's just to get them to
show their real self in order to see what made them tick was what kept
he sport fresh for me. Perhaps I would have made a wonderfully
sadistic prison guard or serial killer in another life. Ah well maybe
next lifetime

I've been averaging 1200+ a year for the last seven. No such thing as
fewer around here...

Tandems or solos? If you are still turning out Tandems you must be
pretty tired and sore considering your age.

Tandems. 50-100 fun jumps a year.

Other than a touch of arthritis, I don't notice much.
At the end of the day I can still sit in front of the TV and fall asleep
with the best of them...
